APQP & CP
APQP stands for Advanced Product Quality Planning, which is a structured approach used to determine and establish the steps required to ensure that a product meets customer requirements. It is a part of the QS9000/TS16949 quality management system. The purpose of APQP is to identify and specify the actions needed to produce a product that satisfies the customer's requirements and expectations.
CP refers to Control Plan, which is a critical document in the APQP process. It outlines the control methods and procedures that will be used to maintain the stability of the production process and ensure that the output of the process consistently meets the specified quality characteristics.
APQP Five-Phase Process
APQP consists of five phases:

Plan and Determine Project
This involves defining the project scope, establishing goals and objectives, and determining the resources needed to complete the project successfully.

Product Design and Development
In this phase, the product design is developed, including concept development, detail engineering, and testing. The focus is on creating a design that meets the customer's requirements while also being manufacturable.

Process Design and Development
This phase focuses on developing the manufacturing process for the product. It includes process flow design, equipment selection, and process validation.

Production Validation
This phase involves producing samples of the product according to the validated process and conducting tests to verify that the product meets the specified quality characteristics.

Product Maintenance
After the product is launched, ongoing monitoring and improvement activities are conducted to ensure that the product continues to meet customer requirements.
Implementing APQP & CP
Implementing APQP & CP requires a cross-functional team that includes representatives from various departments such as technology, quality, production, sales, supply chain, and finance. The team must work together to ensure that all aspects of the product's development and production are properly planned and controlled.
