On the same day, when the customs staff inspected the flight from Singapore, they intercepted 3 kilograms of fresh pineapple from the belongings of a Chinese inbound passenger, and a number of white adult insects were found in the initial screening of the scene, which was immediately sent for inspection, which was identified as a new pineapple gray mealybug. This is the first time this year that the Shandong travel inspection port has intercepted this creature, and the staff has destroyed the pineapple in accordance with relevant regulations.
The new pineapple gray mealybug is one of the main alien organisms introduced to China in recent years, mainly distributed in more than 30 countries and regions such as the Hawaiian Islands, Mexico, Malaysia, Brazil and so on, which can endanger more than 30 kinds of important agricultural and forestry cash crops such as sisal, pineapple, pumpkin, tomato, cocoa, banana and so on. Eggs, larvae and adults parasitize on the surface of the host plant, which can cause malnutrition of the host plant, weakening the tree, a large number of leaves and fruit fallen, and cause plant death in severe cases. Its reproduction speed is fast, the spread is rapid, once the colonization and spread will cause serious harm to China's fruits, vegetables, flowers and other plants.
