On December 1, 2020, the Lanzhou Railway Transport Intermediate Court publicly pronounced a verdict, sentencing Zhang Lingping to 12 years' imprisonment and a fine of 1 million yuan for accepting bribes, and sentenced him to 4 years in prison for abuse of power, several crimes, and a combined 14-year fixed-term imprisonment and a fine of 1 million yuan. The stolen money and stolen goods seized in the case shall be confiscated in accordance with law and handed over to the State Treasury.
The court held that Zhang Lingping, as a state functionary, illegally accepted 18.43 million yuan, 200,000 US dollars, 100,000 Euros, 200,000 Hong Kong dollars, 40 ounces of gold, 1 5.05 carat loose diamond, and 17 calligraphy and painting works from others, constituting the crime of accepting bribes, and the amount was particularly huge; Zhang Lingping abused his power, causing heavy losses to state-owned assets, constituting the crime of abuse of power, and the circumstances were particularly serious. After Zhang Lingping was arrested, he took the initiative to confess the same kind of crime that the case-handling organs had not yet mastered, and there were confessing circumstances; confessing guilt and repenting of guilt; and recovering all the stolen money and stolen goods to the case.
