Ford's initial capacity plan for the F-150 Lightning was to increase annual production to 80,000 units in 2024, but this obviously did not take into account consumer enthusiasm. A recent news report from foreign media revealed a message in Ford's memorandum: Ford has informed suppliers that the annual production capacity of the F-150 Lightning is expected to reach 88,000 units by early 2023. This means that Ford will significantly increase the production capacity of new vehicles, not only to achieve the initial production capacity plan ahead of schedule, but also to increase the expected production.
Ford CEO Jim Farley said Ford's "all-electric vehicles have achieved an oversubscription," particularly the F-150 Lightning model, and Thatd is "doing everything in its power" to double F-150 Lightning's capacity.
