Retire to Qujiang and write poetry diligently
In the corner of Mr. Yu's living room table, there are several collections of his works in a neat stack; the self-published "Collection of Near-Body Poems" collects works from before 2015; and the two "Sparks" also have his award-winning old style poems.
After reading these works and through the introduction of Mr. Yu Lao, I learned that most of the poems he wrote were near-body poems, absolute sentences and rhythmic poems; occasionally some words were composed. It can be seen from the table of contents that the book "Collection of Near-Body Poems" mainly includes genres such as five-word poems, seven-word poems, five-word verses, and seven-word verses. Among the poems, Mr. Yu also composed nearly 100 gelu poems specifically for the community where he lived, which were uniformly included in the "Praise of Longhu Lake". Mr. Yu's poems are written by people and things, but they are all praises for a better life, including praise for the property managers in the community. In 2019, in the first "Golden Spike Cup" Spark Literature Award initiated by the Alumni Literature Federation of Xi'an Jiaotong University and sponsored by alumni enterprises, Mr. Yu Lao won the Gold Award for Old Style Poetry. On the online platform, Mr. Yu Lao's near-body poetry has also received 420,000 hits, and there are many praises and comments.
Talking about the reason for his love of poetry creation, Mr. Yu said that this stemmed from his birth in a family of deep scholars, and he wrote his first poem at the age of seventeen. Mr. Yu said that despite his pursuit of the aesthetics of ancient poetry, his father at that time hoped that he could engage in science and engineering studies. Filial piety, he kept in mind the admonition that "I am not afraid to learn mathematics, physics and chemistry all over the world", and was admitted to the metallography major of the Mechanical Department of Xi'an Jiaotong University. In college, he was busy with the study and research of metal material resistance and toughness every day, and after graduating from training in the army for a period of time, he entered the Xi'an Iron and Steel Factory to engage in technical work.
Revisit poetry, enlightened
Mr. Yu said that when he picked up the hobby of poetry again, it was already the year of retirement, that is, during his eight or nine years as the owner of Longhu, he wrote poetry in his spare time, not only with poetry and temperament, but also to express the perception of life experiences such as appreciating scenery and encountering things, but also hoping to inherit and revive the charming Chinese literary genre of chinese literature through his personal creative practice. "Looking at today's poetry world, the rhythm of poetry is rare", Mr. Yu wants to seize his time, continue to write it, and carry forward this treasure in traditional literature and art.
In order to make his poetry more readable, as a professional technician in science and engineering, he used his leisure time to self-study the knowledge of the grammar of near-body poetry, including flat tone, duality, rhyme, etc., in order to strive to reproduce the beauty of near-body poetry in his creation.
