author:Small theater

As we all know, the denomination of RMB is 1 yuan, 2 yuan, 5 yuan, 50 yuan, 100 yuan, etc., and there is no 3 yuan. But in fact, in the history of New China, there were also 3 yuan issued, but few people now know.

The 3 yuan was issued in March 1953 when the second set of renminbi was issued, but it was later cancelled. So why did China issue 3 yuan that year, and why did it cancel it later?

Who has seen this version of 3 yuan? Why was it cancelled later?

First of all, the issuance of 3 yuan was the need of the struggle against the enemy at that time. Soon after the founding of New China, the Chiang clique in Taiwan was always preparing to counterattack the mainland, and cross-strait relations were relatively tense, while Hong Kong and Macao were still under the control of Britain and Portugal. Chiang Kai-shek often printed fake renminbi with the technical help of the United States, airdropped it, or smuggled it to the mainland through Hong Kong and Macao to undermine the renminbi's credibility.

The masses cannot distinguish between true and false, and banks can only distinguish between them with a microscope. Under such circumstances, the larger the denomination of the currency issued, the greater the amount of money that Taiwan airdrops or smuggles fake bills of the same size and weight, and the greater the losses caused to us.

In order to reduce the impact and loss of counterfeit tickets, China decided not to issue large bills of more than 5 yuan when the new currency was issued. However, the one-dollar coupon is too small, which is not good for circulation. Therefore, it was decided to increase the issuance of 3 yuan to regulate the circulation field.

Later, with the gradual improvement of cross-strait relations, a small amount of renminbi could also leave the country, and 3 yuan completed its historical mission.

In addition, there is another important reason for the recovery of the 3 yuan, which and the same set of 5 yuan and 10 yuan were entrusted to the Soviet Union to print on behalf of the Soviet Union, and in the early 1960s, the relations between China and the Soviet Union had deteriorated, and these stamps and printed materials could not be recovered. In order to prevent accidents, China finally decided to take back all three kinds of tickets printed by the Soviet Union.

That's why China's printing of 3 yuan was later cancelled.

If you still have 3 yuan in your family's collection, you should hide it well, because there are very few surviving, and now it is very valuable. According to the price list of the collection website, the market price of the new single sheet of 3 yuan is about 40,000-50,000 yuan, and the market price of more than 5 products is about 15,000-35,000.
