So in early 1942, the Chinese Expeditionary Force went to the Burmese battlefield to join the British in resisting the Japanese in Burma.
After the expeditionary force entered Burma, it had a brilliant performance in defending Tonggu and Ren'anqiang to save the British army, but due to the timing and improper coordination, the Japanese army captured Lashio, cut off Yunnan burma, and took Mandalay, and the Chinese and British sides could only retreat to India and Yunnan, China.
Since the secret on the Burma Road had been occupied by the Japanese army, Du Yuming could only lead the large troops of the Fifth Army to detour back to Yunnan from the direction of Savage Mountain, while Sun Liren led the 38th Division to the rear of the palace.

The incomparable and toxin-carrying snakes, insects, rats and ants, the poisonous miasma, the tight woods and the obscured starry sky make people disoriented, the lack of food and water is even worse, and what is more terrifying is that there are primitive tribesmen who quietly haunt... More than 30,000 people crossed the Savage Mountain, leaving only about 3,000 people.
Liu Guiying became the only female soldier to survive from the Savage Mountain, and the other female soldiers all buried in this primeval dense forest.
Duan Shengkui is the director of the Museum of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in Yunnan and Burma, he feels very heartache and helplessness about this experience that has happened to his predecessors, and since then he has begun to sort out the relics of World War II, and has personally gone to the battlefield many times to look for clues, hoping to return those heroic souls who have been displaced to their homeland.
After more than 20 years of unremitting efforts, he has now sorted out more than 20,000 relics of the Yunnan-Burmese War of Resistance, many of which he exchanged from the Kachin people in the form of "barter", including the skulls of female soldiers who sacrificed themselves at Savage Mountain.
Since the Kachin were still in the form of primitive tribes, they also had wizards in their tribes and practiced some of the more brutal rituals. They believe that if a woman has difficulty giving birth, then she will use a water scoop made of a woman's skull to scoop up water and drink it, and naturally she can give birth smoothly. Therefore, the skulls of the female soldiers were removed by the Kachin wizards and the second half of the skulls were made into water scoops.
Duan Shengkui exchanged two knives for the skull of the female soldier of the expeditionary force, and at the moment when he received the relic, Duan Shengkui's tears could not help but burst out of his eyes, and he choked and said, "I will take you home."
Some warriors can still be taken home, but the war is merciless, and others will never return home. Therefore, we must formalize this history and understand that today's happy life is the blood of countless ancestors, and only by remembering history can we be worthy of their efforts.
