Although the configuration of Xiaomi has always been excellent in terms of speakers, the opening of the upper and lower speakers and the limitation of internal space also make some Xiaomi phones need to make a trade-off between earpiece sound quality and speaker sound quality. Recently, foreign media exposed a new patented design prepared by Xiaomi for this purpose, which is to improve this situation.
The patent describes a unique mechanical cover structure that switches between "on" and "off" modes. When only the external sound is played, it will remain open, so that the sound can continue the original way to play out of the speaker opening; and when the bell needs to be ringed, it will turn off, covering the opening of the speaker, so that sound waves can be directed to the side of the display, thus creating a better call quality.
Although this mechanical structure looks a bit bulky, but considering the relationship between sound and physical structure, it may be really quite effective; and many of Xiaomi's current flagship models are equipped with dual speakers or even symmetrical double speaker configurations, if matched with such a structure, perhaps they will go further in sound performance.
