Mention Situ Meitang, there may not be too many people who know people, but if you mention the Heaven and Earth Society and Chen Jinnan, I believe that many people can say the sentence "People do not know Chen Jinnan, and they are called heroes in vain." But in modern history, there is a legendary big man named Situ Meitang, who was born in the Hongmen Heaven and Earth Society. In his lifetime, he went through the three emperors of Tongzhi, Guangxu, and Xuantong, as well as the Beiyang and Republic of China periods, and even Franklin, who was the only president in American history to be re-elected for four consecutive terms. Roosevelt had worked for him.
However, such a figure from a gang was personally invited by Chairman Mao to attend the founding ceremony after the founding of New China. After his death, Premier Zhou Enlai presided over the public ceremony. The ups and downs of a lifetime are not legendary.
And to talk about Situ Meitang, we must first talk about his gang, Hongmen!
Due to the long history of Hongmen and the complexity of gang changes, only a brief introduction will be made here.
Regarding the Hongmen Heaven and Earth Society, I believe that most people have learned about it through film and television dramas. However, there are two main theories about the origin of the Hongmen Heaven and Earth Society in history. The first is believed to be the first creation of Zheng Chenggong, the King of Yanping; the other is created by Hong Ying, an aide to the anti-Qing hero Shi Kefa in the late Ming Dynasty, and Zheng Chenggong was only the promoter of the Hongmen Heaven and Earth Society.
It is called Hongmen because in the eyes of the Han Chinese, the rulers of the Qing Dynasty, who belonged to the barbarians at that time, seized the Han People's Jiangshan. Historically, as the Song Dynasty was destroyed by the Mongols, the Ming Dynasty established by Zhu Yuanzhang drove the Mongols away and restored Han rule. The rulers of the Qing Dynasty, now regarded as barbarians, occupied the Han Chinese. Therefore, with heaven as the earth and the father as the mother, it is called the Heaven and Earth Society. And because the era name of The Ming Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang was Hongwu, and the purpose of the Heaven and Earth Society was to oppose the Qing Dynasty and restore the Ming Dynasty to drive out the Tartars, it was also called Hongmen.
In 1882, at the age of 14, Situ Meitang carried a borrowed 50 silver dollars and followed his relatives to work at a Chinese restaurant in San Francisco, USA. Since the Opium War, the Qing government has lost successive battles, and treaties that have lost power and humiliated the country have been signed one after another, and Chinese who are far abroad have also been bullied. In order to seek refuge in the organization, in 1885, at the age of 17, Situ Meitang joined the San Francisco Chi Kung Court and became a gang member.
One day, a tall white drunk broke into the restaurant, beat up the Chinese manager in the restaurant, and smashed the restaurant. At that time, Situ Meitang was the age of Fang Gang, and when he saw that the white troublemakers still refused to give up, he immediately stepped forward. After some fighting, Situ Meitang beat the white troublemaker to death on the spot.
In the White Supremacy of the United States at that time, Situ Meitang's behavior undoubtedly caused a terrible disaster, and he was subsequently arrested by the San Francisco Police Department and sentenced to death. After the news of Situ Meitang's death sentence to death in order to safeguard the interests of overseas Chinese spread, many overseas Chinese who had been bullied took to the streets to protest. The Zhigongtang where he was located was also rescued through various channels, and eventually changed from the death penalty to ten months in prison. It is precisely because of this incident that the reputation of Situ Meitang has been greatly enhanced.
After being released, Situ Meitang was immediately sent to Boston, USA to form a new church. After arriving in Boston, he played the slogan of eliminating the strong and helping the weak, eliminating violence and anliang, and quickly established an anliangtang. Due to the flexibility of the mind and the courage to fight, in just five years, the An Liang Tang formed by Situ MeiTang became the most powerful church under the Zhi Gong Tang at that time, with disciples spreading across 31 cities in the United States and reaching nearly 30,000 people.
Due to the superior prestige of the management, at the age of 37, Situ Meitang was elected as the head of The An Liang Tang, which is commonly known as the Hongmen Gangster in the film and television drama, and moved the headquarters of An Liang Tang to New York. And hired a guy named Franklin. Roosevelt's Americans came to act as their own legal advisers. The legal adviser, roosevelt, was the only U.S. president in U.S. history to serve four consecutive terms. As Stuart Meitang's chief legal adviser, Roosevelt did not resign as an honorary counsel until his presidential campaign was successful.
After the outbreak of the Pacific War, the Japanese completely fell out with Europe, and Hong Kong, ruled by the British, was also occupied by the Japanese army. Situ Meitang, who was 75 years old at the time, was concerned about the domestic war of resistance, and was kidnapped by the Japanese special high-tech in 1941 on the way back to China through Hong Kong. Due to his admiration for the personal prestige of Situ Meitang, the Japanese Special High Tech Tried to make Situ Meitang the president of the Hong Kong Maintenance Association. However, in the face of the threat of the Japanese, Situ Meitang insisted on refusing and said: If I was a traitor in my ancient years, what was the difference between that and the chaste and martyr women who lost their virginity in their later years?
Seeing that the coercion and inducement were ineffective, but could not be executed, the Japanese special high-tech department who was not willing to let Situ Meitang go, originally decided to assassinate him. However, due to the strong power of Hongmen in Hong Kong and the great prestige of Situ Meitang, he was eventually released.
In order to support the anti-Japanese resistance, Situ Meitang initiated the establishment of the "New York Overseas Chinese Anti-Japanese National Salvation Association", from the outbreak of the July 7 Incident to the Japanese announcing unconditional surrender, only Si New York An Liang Tang raised nearly 5 million US dollars overseas for the domestic war of resistance, and Situ Meitang also became one of the largest contributors among the overseas Chinese leaders in the United States.
In 1948, Situ Meitang, as the head of the American Hongmen Zhigong Hall, publicly declared his support for the Communist Party of China, the idea of convening a political consultative conference, and forming a coalition government, and immediately wrote the "Tribute to Chairman Mao".
In 1949, with the complete collapse of the Kuomintang's rule on the mainland, in order to unite all forces at home and abroad, Chairman Mao issued a handwritten invitation letter to him, inviting Situ Meitang to return to China to attend the political consultative conference of the Chinese people. On October 1, 1949, Situ Meitang and many founding fathers participated in the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China at the Tiananmen Tower. Subsequently, he was elected as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a member of the Central People's Government, and a member of the Central Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee On May 8, 1955, the 87-year-old Situ Meitang died in Beijing due to cerebral hemorrhage.
After Situ Meitang's death, the central government held a grand public ceremony for him, which was presided over by Zhou Enlai, the then premier of the State Council. In front of the shrine are wreaths sent by Mao Zedong, Zhu De, Liu Shaoqi and other Politburo Standing Committee members, while the remains are buried in the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery. For such a solemn public ceremony after the founding of the People's Republic of China, it can also be seen that Situ Meitang's contribution to the motherland is also the highest praise of the central government for this Hongmen elder.
The Zhigongtang, which was rebuilt by Hongmen, is still active in China's political arena, and I don't know if anyone can say his name!
