Carnegie

The tombstone of Andrew Carnegie, the king of steel, is inscribed with the words "Here lies a man who is better at using his abilities than himself."

However, what made him deeply rooted in the hearts of the people within 200 years was not his words, but the immortal words that affected the entire Western view of wealth: "It is a shame to die in the midst of great wealth."

Born in Dunfermline, Scotland, Carnegie came to a poor family as a child, and moved with his father to Allegheny, Pennsylvania, Asia, at the age of 11. Since the age of 13, he has worked in a cotton mill and worked as a post and telecommunications officer. Carnegie's Journey to the Greats started with picking up a little extra business. Because of his poor family, Carnegie, who did not finish middle school, had to go to society. His first job was delivering telegrams in Pittsburgh. Due to the low salary, he aspired to be an operator, but being an operator required him to understand the telegraph business, so he taught himself telegraphy at night, ran to the company early every morning, and practiced on the machine. One day, the company suddenly received a telegram from Philadelphia. The telegram was unusually urgent, but none of the operators were yet at work, so Carnegie immediately ran to collect it on his behalf and hurriedly delivered it to the receiver. After that, he was promoted to operator and his salary was doubled. Due to the relatively easy job of the operator, Carnegie had more energy to devote to learning business knowledge, which laid a good foundation for him to embark on a business path and become a steel king.

In 1892, he finally climbed to the top of his career and became a veritable steel tycoon. Alongside Rockefeller and Morgan, he was one of the three giants of the American economy at the time.

Carnegie is respected not only because he is a successful entrepreneur, but more importantly, because after the success of his career, he did not hesitate to donate almost all of the huge wealth he earned to social welfare. For the second half of his life, he devoted himself primarily to philanthropy and world peace
