La Porta: There are criminal facts that will provide evidence Barca's total wages have been reduced by 159 million euros

La Porta: There are criminal facts that will provide evidence Barca's total wages have been reduced by 159 million euros

With the end of the winter transfer window, Barca have still brought in a number of players despite the club's very poor financial situation. Today, Barca held a press conference, and the president of the club, Laporta, expressed his views on the financial situation, reinforcements and other topics.

Here are all of La Porta's speeches:

Out of responsibility, the board of directors I chaired wanted to know the club's true financial situation. What we did was ask Deloitte LLP to conduct due diligence and find some suspicious operations that required in-depth analysis. We placed ourselves in the context of Kroll's investigation, a well-known risk management firm, which revealed that they had overpaid. They have been shown to be disloyal to the club's assets and do not exclude someone from enriching themselves.

We have submitted it to the Board of Directors for consideration and have informed the Prosecutor's Office of these facts. They have the resources and that's a decision we make for the benefit of the club. We have appealed against the facts that already exist and have provided the Prosecutor's Office with evidence to prove them. This is done because club members have the right to be informed about acts that could lead to the bankruptcy of the club. And we don't want to be complicit in putting the club in such a mess.

From now on, the Investigation must be facilitated by the Office of the Prosecutor and the perpetrators of these acts must be identified. We thought there would be a bad economy, but we didn't expect the reality to exceed expectations. Some of the facts uncovered by due diligence require more analysis. If these facts constitute a crime, we will provide evidence.

The Prosecutor's Office will determine who is to blame, we want to clarify the facts, and partners want to understand the economic realities. We will not blame anyone, but it is our obligation to tell club members about these facts.

I would like to emphasize that there is a recurring way of doing things that escapes internal control and legal control. The economy operates without the consent of the board of directors, and the debts that arise subsequently do not pass through the board.

If someone is well-fed, it is a very serious problem, and the Prosecutor's Office will make its own decisions. Each board has its own way of doing things, and invoices for a certain amount must be considered by the board. The problem is that they bypassed the internal control mechanism, and now we have to improve it. Although there is also legal control, the problem is also bypassed.

All of these behaviors have a way of being interpreted, and when you turn them into criminal cases, they have a huge impact. We don't want to use the club's resources to file a series of lawsuits because it would take a lot of time and we're not sure if we'll win the lawsuit.

Someone talked about charging a commission to lawyers, which is astronomical. The club did not pay the fee, but by a player. We are not police officers and we have a responsibility to run the club well and to follow the strategic plans laid down.

Our total salary has been reduced by 159 million euros and I would like to thank the staff of the club. We're 40% better than the average from our competitors, so there's still a lot of work to be done.
