EDF acquired part of GE's nuclear power business, and GE's scenery is no longer visible

Leifeng Network reported on February 11 that EDF said that it signed an exclusive agreement with General Electric to acquire part of the nuclear power business of GE Steam Power, a subsidiary of the latter. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2023. The financial details of the transaction were not made public.

EDF said the proposed deal includes conventional island equipment for the new nuclear power plant and steam turbine technology for future nuclear power plants. The businesses and teams covered in the agreement are spread across around 15 countries, with nearly 70% of the workforce located in France.

GE will retain its services-focused steam-powered business, including nuclear services in the Americas, as well as nuclear power plant technology and service provider GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy.

The french electric action also replaced the 2014 Alstom fiasco with a bad breath.

In fact, GE's conflict with France began as early as 2014 after the acquisition of Alstom of France.

In 2013, Frederick Pierucci, vice president of international sales at Alstom in France, was arrested by FBI agents at The Kennedy Airport in New York on a business trip from Singapore to local dignitaries on a project in Indonesia for bribing local dignitaries through intermediaries.

The U.S. Department of Justice then charged Pieruczi with commercial bribery and fined Alstom $772 million, which also took place.

What does this acquisition mean? Looking at the background, Alstom is responsible for the manufacture, maintenance and renewal of all turbine generators in 58 nuclear reactors in France, responsible for 75% of France's power production equipment, and also provides propulsion turbines for the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle.

The U.S. government, which acquired Alstom through General Electric, virtually controls all of France's nuclear power plants, already has a future weapon of mass destruction. Alstom, a business giant that once spanned the global power, energy and rail transportation industries, was "dismembered" by the Americans.

It is worth mentioning that this is a hunt between Geelectric and the United States for the French power company Alstom, relying on judicial arrests, prosecutor suppression, defense lawyer persuasion, corporate intervention, "government and enterprise revolving doors" and other measures, the United States laid a network of heaven and earth, so that Alstom's lawyers are also General Electric' backers, from the beginning, Alstom is their bag.

Alstom Power Is the fifth department swallowed by GE, it continues to develop at the same time as its own scientific research, continuous mergers and acquisitions, and also forms alliances with a number of companies, and now GE can be said to be the first giant in power, pressing Siemens.

This model of acquisition and strategic alliance seems to have become a tradition from the beginning of the company's establishment, because GE itself was founded under the mediation of morgan, the big chaebol at the time, which can be said to be a successful business model, which also made GE suffer almost no setbacks in the development process of more than a hundred years.

Nowadays, by annexing opponents to win competition, The American giant companies are gradually blinded by their own "achievements" and become "giant baby companies" that are blunt about environmental changes.

When GE reacted and wanted to change the direction of development, it found that annexing competitors made itself "fat" in the traditional energy field.

Such a bloated institution, a huge and complex business makes it difficult to return, there is no room for turning, can only look at the new energy technology and trend sigh.
