The Jiading Huating student won the 9th International Origami Olympiad Award

A few days ago, the results of the 9th International Origami Olympiad (IOIO IX.) were announced, and Shanghai student Du Jialei won the third place. The International Network Origami Olympiad is currently the most influential international origami competition. The competition lasted more than two months, and the tasks included a total of fourteen works of various difficulty, creases, inlaid origami, flower balls and original themes. The 9th IOIO began on October 1, 2021, with 803 entries from 59 countries around the world.

Born in 1999, Du Jialei is from Huating Town, Jiading District, and is currently in his senior year at Shanghai University. Because his major is architecture, this gives him his own unique insights into the aesthetics and spatial layout of origami works. When he was a child, an occasional contact made Du Jialei have a strong interest in origami. After entering the university, he joined the school origami club and became the president, not only has a more comprehensive and systematic study of modern origami, but also knows many like-minded partners. Last summer, Huating Town, Jiading District, held a modern origami art exhibition in the Civic Building, and the works on display were all produced by Du Jialei. At the exhibition site, the vivid and vivid origami works not only amazed the citizens who came to visit, but also allowed Du Jialei to gain a large number of "fans".
