James P. James C. Scott (born December 2, 1936) is a prominent sociologist and Sterling professor of political science and anthropology at Yale University. His research interests include agrarian and non-state societies, subordinate classes and anarchism, and the peasantry of Southeast Asia and their revolt against government. His major works include: The Political Ideology of Malaysia (1968), Comparative Political Corruption (1972), The Moral Economics of the Peasants (1976), Weapons of the Weak (1986), The Art of Domination and Resistance (1992), And How Projects To Improve the Human Condition Fail from a National Perspective.
The Sociology Bar has reported that Professor Stetter has won the 2020 Albert Herschmann Prize in the past two years (Professor James C. Scott won the 2020 Albert Herschmann Prize for interdisciplinary contributions) and the 2021 A.SK Social Science Award (this year, the highest social science honor award of up to $200,000 set up by the Chinese couple was awarded to James Scott).
