Hyundai Group is the best performer of the IIHS Top Safety Pick/Top Safety Pick+ list, with a total of 21 cars from its three major brands, Hyundai, KIA and Genesis, of which 11 cars have received top safety ratingSP+ (below), and 10 cars are the best safety preferred TSP. TSP+ includes Hyundai Tucson, Palisade, Santa Fe, Nexo, while KIA and luxury brands Genesis have K5, Stinger, G70, G80, G90, GV70 and GV80.

VW Group followed suit, with a total of 8 VW and Audi cars receiving Top Safety Pick+ and 3 cars winning Top Safety Pick awards, including Audi A6/A6 allroad, A7, VW ID.4, Audi Q5/Q5 Sportback, and Audi e-tron/e-tron Sportback. A total of 10 cars won the Top Safety Pick+, such as: Volvo S60/S60 Recharge/V60 Cross Country/C40 Recharge/XC40/XC40 Recharge/XC60/XC60 Recharge/XC90/XC90 Recharge.

To take the Top Safety Pick+, the vehicle needs to receive Good reviews for crashworthiness in six major items: driver's/co-pilot side front small area impact, forward offset impact, side impact, roof strength, headrest and seat performance. On the one hand, it needs to be equipped with a pre-vehicle collision warning system, in which the vehicle-to-vehicle/vehicle-to-person collision prevention system needs to be able to win the Advanced and Superior evaluations. The illumination and anti-glare performance of the standard headlamp must also be subject to an Accessible or Good score (Top Safety Pick can still be selected even if it is listed as an option).

IIHS is also announcing more stringent test rating standards for 2023.
