SAIC Motor sold 322,000 units in February, up 30.6% y/y

On March 3, SAIC Motor released its February production and sales report, selling 322,000 vehicles in the month, an increase of 30.6% year-on-year. Among them, the "new troika" of independent brands, new energy and overseas markets continued to perform brightly and achieved rapid growth; the main joint ventures maintained a stable and good development trend, especially SAIC Volkswagen, with a sharp increase of 79.4% year-on-year in single-month sales.

Sales of self-owned brands doubled. In February this year, SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Company sold 64,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 113.4%, of which the sales of major models such as RX5 and MG5 exceeded 10,000, and the global sales of new energy vehicles exceeded 9,000. SAIC Maxus sold nearly 13,000 units, up 30.9% year-on-year. Recently, SAIC Motor's first product based on a new vehicle architecture and equipped with the "cloud pipe end" integrated intelligent vehicle solution, the "New World Driving Control Flagship" Zhiji L7 will be released soon, to achieve "brand upward". The newly established "SAIC Group Innovation Research and Development Institute" is fully integrating innovation resources, will form an independent research and development team of more than 10,000 people, and promote the technology research and development and industrialization of electric intelligent networked vehicles for the future, so as to make the independent brand bigger and stronger.

New energy vehicles soared. In February, SAIC's new energy vehicle sales exceeded 45,000 units, up 48.4% year-on-year, continuing to occupy a dominant position in the market. Among them, SAIC-GM-Wuling small and micro electric vehicles maintained rapid growth, SAIC Passenger Vehicle Company's new energy vehicle sales exceeded 9,000, SAIC Volkswagen new energy vehicle sales exceeded 6,300 vehicles, ranking first in the joint venture brand.

Overseas markets are in full swing. In February, SAIC's overall overseas sales exceeded 56,000 units, an increase of 69.3% year-on-year, of which the MG brand successfully achieved "doubling" sales in Europe. This year, with the first "global car" in China's automotive industry - a number of new energy blockbuster products represented by the pure electric vehicle MG EH32 have landed in Europe, the annual sales of SAIC's own brands in Europe are expected to reach 120,000 units, and Europe will take the lead in promoting to SAIC's first "100,000-car" overseas regional market.
