Just later on April 3, BYD Auto released a shocking news to the industry, it officially announced: according to BYD's strategic development needs, from March 2022 to stop the production of fuel vehicles. This also means that BYD Automobile has become the first traditional car company in the world to announce the cessation of fuel vehicle production. At present, no traditional automobile company in the world has made such a big move. So why did BYD make such a move? This can also be seen in the composition of automobile sales in recent times.
At the beginning of the year, BYD released car sales, we can see that BYD's full passenger car sales in 2021 exceeded 730,000, reaching 730093, of which nearly 600,000 new energy passenger cars were sold, reaching 593745, EV models sold 320,810 vehicles, and DM models sold 272935 vehicles for the whole year. Its main sales force BYD Han, BYD Tang, Song, Qin, Yuan and a series of models are also mainly based on new energy types.
On the same night that BYD released the suspension of fuel vehicles, BYD also released March sales, of which the production of new energy vehicles was 106,700 units, the sales volume was 104,900 units, and the production and sales of fuel vehicles were "0". From January to March this year, BYD's cumulative sales of fuel vehicles were only 5,049 units, accounting for only 1.7% of total sales, which is almost negligible. From the perspective of its sales composition, BYD does not have to invest a lot of capital in fuel vehicles, so it is expected to stop production of fuel vehicles.
While stopping production of fuel vehicles, BYD also has the energy and capital to invest in new energy, for example, in the field of electrification, BYD signed an investment cooperation agreement with the Guiyang Municipal People's Government. According to the content of the agreement, the two sides will carry out in-depth cooperation in the new power battery industry project and the PACK factory production line, which also means that BYD has taken another important step in the new energy market.
It is understood that in the first half of last year, BYD invested 5 billion yuan in Guiyang to build a blade battery project with an annual production capacity of 10GWh has been put into production. Among the four production lines, 2 production lines supply BYD's "Han" series models, 1 production line supplies BYD's "Dolphin" series models, and the other production line prepares for BYD's upcoming new cars.
Since then, BYD Guiyang's battery project has invested heavily in 2 new production lines, but the two new production lines are why the model is prepared, we have no more accurate information, but its annual output increased the scale of 5GWH, which is also quite powerful at a glance.
At present, BYD Automobile mainly lays out the Dynasty series and the Ocean series models, of which the Dynasty series has Han, Song, Qin, Tang, Yuan and other hot models, and even some models are now in a state that is difficult to find. At present, the ocean series has completed the listing of dolphins, cruisers, etc., and the market feedback is good, and a series of new cars such as seals and frigates will be launched on the market in the future.
