As a child, I lived in the countryside, looking at the mountains and wild forests, rice fields and wheat fields, streams and streams, flocks of birds, and squirrels. Squirrels are lively and active, smart and cute, like to come out in the morning and evening, often haunt the bamboo forest, pine trees, fruit trees and other trees, rarely down to the ground activities. The image of a squirrel will always give people the impression of being free and relaxed. Their eyes are large and oval; their ears are usually erect and alert; their mouths are small and their teeth are sharp; their four toes are strong; their tails are long and hairy, which keeps their body balanced when they are speeding; their body hairs are thick, with grayish brown on their backs in summer, brownish-black-gray in winter, and white in their abdomen.
I painted the "white-faced squinting" squirrel: white-faced, eyes squinting into a thin slit, small mouth, round head and thin body, and long tail. Song Dynasty Dong Kui's "Guangchuan Painting" Yun: "Painting is like a precious, where the shape is given, it originates in business, and it is natural... Sent out of the outside, false in the hand and sent color, did not try to seek its resemblance and trusted. "It is better to ask for a business like it, and it is expensive to be able to do it without distortion."
The squinter is like an old monk, contemplating himself, that is, shielding the appearance of the extreme of the eye and contemplating himself. Squirrels are greedy and active, but the pen and ink should be quiet, if the form moves, the look is uneasy, the picture is difficult to calm and irritable. Therefore, the mover must stop, the image movement hair can be moved, and the expression must be peaceful. And "white face" has the popularity of literature, so the picture side does not lose the ancient mood and silence Zen.
I often wonder if a white-faced squinting squirrel can give people a sense of loneliness. Because loneliness is a rare and precious realm of tranquility, it is in line with the squirrel's habit of going in and out of more and more alone.

Chen Jinyu was born in 1982 on the banks of the Chishui River in Gulin County, Southern Shu, with a master's degree in Wanglongping, Baiyan. He studied under Professor Su Su and Professor Chen Hang, and Mr. Su Baozhen passed on his disciples. He now lives in Wenzhou and specializes in painting. Determined to revive Zen painting, he is good at painting squirrels, gibbons, landscapes, Zen figures, and residual lotuses.
Since childhood, he likes to graffiti, and when he was young, he was poor, and often did not have a suitable paper and pencil, so he looked for charcoal, white stone, and colored stone to paint on the walls, large stone slabs, and the ground. Under the influence of his cousins, he often painted Taoist immortal Buddhas, bodhisattvas, flying heavens, door gods and other subjects.
In 2003, he was admitted to the Chinese Painting Class of the Painting Department of the Academy of Fine Arts of Southwest Normal University (merged with Southwest Agricultural University to form Southwest University in 2006).
In 2007, Professor Su Su was sent to study Su's pastel flower and bird paintings without examination, taking Mr. Su Baozhen's pen and ink as the paradigm, following Xu Wei and Chen Baiyang in the Ming Dynasty, and the Song Dynasty flower and bird sketches as the teacher method, and the first brushwork. At the same time, he studied traditional landscape painting with Professor Chen Hang. He studied the painting styles of Dong Yuan, Juran, Li Cheng, Fan Kuan, Guo Xi, Xia Gui and other southern and northern schools; later, with the monk Juran as his teacher, he studied works such as "Spring Dawn on Hushan Mountain" and "Qiushan Qingdao", thus constructing the theory of songlin (young pine) landscape.
In 2010, he graduated with a master's degree and taught at the Wuhan College of Communication of Central China Normal University (now wuhan college of media).
Since 2013, there are many authentic works of overseas return calligraphy and painting, such as the Yuan Dynasty center Mingben, Yishan Yining and so on. Once again, I reflected on Zen painting, and I also wanted to regain my love for themes such as Daoshi Feitian when I was a teenager. At this point, the painting method of gibbons was studied with the Northern Song Dynasty Yi Yuanji and the Southern Song Dynasty Muxi as the teachers; the Song and Yuan Methods combined with the painting methods of the Qing Dynasty Virtual Valley and so on were used to form a unique expression of the "white-faced squinting squirrel" painting method.
