Lincoln's new Star Concept car showcases the brand's future electric vision

Ford's Lincoln brand showcased its futuristic design language through Star Concept. Lincoln also officially announced the launch of four electric vehicles by 2026 and plans to account for half of BEV sales by the middle of this century.

The brand intends to maintain its "quiet flight" philosophy, especially for comfortable and quiet travel, but give it a "charming, vibrant new face". Similar to the Audi Urbansphere Concept, unveiled earlier this week, the Lincoln Star Concept is a large SUV-style crossover that looks bulky on the outside, but is designed to provide plenty of space inside — precisely to give customers a private space to travel or get a moment of serenity in the hustle and bustle of the city center.

The core competency of the spacious interior comes from the brand's battery-electric architecture, which enables designers to be more imaginative and playful by using the space of the battery pack itself. According to Lincoln, the architecture uses rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, which is consistent with Ford's similar vehicles. Opening the rear hatch, star concept has a "lounge mode" that can be converted to outdoor seating. At the front of the vehicle, the hood itself is made of electrochromic glass, which can go from transparent to opaque at the push of a button.

Anthony Lo, Chief Design Officer at Ford Motor Company, said: "Electrification is removing many of the traditional car design limitations, allowing us to reimagine what the car looks like. "The Lincoln Star is the study of experiences and themes that push the boundaries of Lincoln's design — and that's just the beginning."

However, it should be noted that the electrification offensive to launch four models by 2026 may be more traditional than the future Star Concept. Two of the four models will be available in the coming months. These are said to be all-electric versions of the Aviator and Corsair.
