Oslo Viking Ship Museum
The Viking Ship Museum is now closed for reconstruction. It will reopen as a Viking Age Museum in 2025/2026.
The new museum will ensure the best conditions for the objects while providing the public with a unique encounter with the Viking Age.
In the museum, there are some of the best-preserved Viking ships in the world, called Oseberg and Gokstad. There was also a third ship, named Tune, but with only a few plates and fragments.
All ships were built in the 9th century. All three ships were excavated from the Oslo Fjord region in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
In addition to the three ships, the museum recently exhibited some skeletons found on the ships.
