On August 31, the 2023 Sichuan Aquatic School "Star Selection Program" Training Camp held a graduation ceremony at Sichuan Aquatic School, and the five-day training camp was announced.
The event was hosted by Sichuan Sports Bureau and organized by Sichuan Aquatic School, with 172 athletes from the province participating. Among them, there are outstanding athletes selected through the provincial championship, and there are potential grassroots players recommended by the auditions of various cities (states). According to the selection project of the provincial water school, these athletes are divided into five categories: rowing, canoeing (still water), canoeing (slalom), BMX and bicycle, which are uniformly organized by the head coach and led by each special coach. At the same time, the provincial water school has also set up an expert selection team and a scientific research and testing team, and the whole school has fully cooperated. During the five-day training camp, the test team tested the 172 athletes on physical indicators such as height, weight, shoulder width, weight, sitting posture forward flexion, physiological and biochemical tests such as lung capacity, hemoglobin, serum testosterone, and other tests such as 1000 meters and 3000 meters, and completed a new round of data evaluation.
It is worth mentioning that while strictly managing and carefully selecting materials, the provincial water school emphasizes its role and the concept of educating talents. During the training camp, a series of activities such as team building icebreaking activities, group movie viewing, physical games and reading sharing sessions were carried out successively. Gao Zirui from Mianyang said that he was honored to participate in this "Star Selection Program" training camp, received training and guidance from the coach, learned more riding styles and skills, and hoped to enter the provincial team and win glory for the province and the country!
