Recently, the Middle East has once again become the focus of the world, but this time the conflict is bloody, people can't help but start to worry, will the sixth Middle East war really break out. In the early morning of October 7, Hamas, an armed group classified as a terrorist organization by Israel and the United States, caught Israel by surprise by firing thousands of rockets into Israel in just 20 minutes. Under the cover of rockets, Hamas managed to enter the streets of Israel and even directly into Israeli military camps. It is conceivable that the fate of those Israeli soldiers will be very miserable.
Although Hamas has retaliated, not the Palestinian government, they are all Palestinians and the conflict between Palestine and Israel has not stopped. The Palestinian Government firmly stated that Palestine had the right to self-defence and called on Israel to cease its occupation of Palestinian territory. However, looking back at the five Middle East wars in history, Israel, with its strong cohesion and strong support from the United States, has always been in a dominant position, with brilliant results, and its ambitions for hegemonic expansion have never stopped.
However, the Hamas raid caused Israel heavy losses in the early stages of the conflict, which is food for thought. The key question is, why was Israel not aware of Hamas's actions in advance? After all, Israel's top intelligence agency, the Mossad, was once one of the world's four largest intelligence agencies, and its intelligence capabilities were once surprisingly superior, even able to spy on the White House. However, it is not the first time that the Mossad seems to be no longer the glory it once was. At the end of the last century, the Mossad had planned to assassinate top Hamas officials, but was inadvertently arrested, a mistake that cost Israel dearly.
When Hamas rockets landed on Israeli soil, the entire Middle East was once again plunged into panic over the outbreak of a sixth Middle East war. But to truly escalate the conflict, there are two huge challenges. First, while the United States remains firmly supportive of Israel, internal political strife continues to make it difficult to provide substantial assistance in a short period of time. Israel faces an even more difficult situation if it loses U.S. support, and all parties must carefully weigh the consequences of escalating the conflict.
Second, the Middle East is coming to a rapprochement, with countries such as Saudi Arabia and Israel trying to improve relations. This shows that Israel has realized that neighboring Arab countries will be its neighbors that cannot be ignored, and that it is wise to cater to the trend of history. Therefore, if the sixth Middle East war is launched, not only will the chances of success be slim, but it will also make Israel's situation in the Middle East more embarrassing, and the losses far outweigh the gains.
