Nanjing's "Jinling Meteorological Disaster Targeted Early Warning and Prevention System" was launched on the 17th. This system is expected to promote the upgrading of Meteorological Disaster Prevention in Nanjing from emergency management focusing on the aftermath to precise prevention and management focusing on pre-knowledge and prediction.

In order to effectively prevent and respond to extreme weather disasters and minimize the impact of extreme weather, the Nanjing Emergency Management Bureau and the Nanjing Meteorological Bureau jointly explored and built this system. Feng Su, director of the Nanjing Emergency Management Bureau, introduced that this system connects meteorological data with data such as Nanjing grid social governance and urban key disaster bearers, and intelligently pushes the short-term early warning information of meteorological disasters and secondary disasters to the relevant responsible units, responsible persons, community grid members, enterprise safety personnel, etc., and then achieve targeted early warning and prevention.

Feng Su said that in the past, meteorological disaster early warning information mostly adopted the method of universal transmission, the directionality and pertinence of early warning were not strong, and the work instructions were not clear. This new system can not only accurately forecast the scope of meteorological disasters to street communities and time forecasts to hours and minutes, but also generate "response work orders" for different disaster recipients, issue clear work instructions to different responsible entities, and promote the upgrading of meteorological disaster prevention from emergency management focusing on the aftermath of the event to accurate prevention and management focusing on advance prediction and prediction.

This early warning and prevention system is the latest achievement of Nanjing's exploration of the "big data + grid + iron footboard" disaster prevention and mitigation model. In the next step, Nanjing Meteorological, Emergency Response, Planning Resources, Water Affairs and other departments will also work with Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology and other universities and research institutes, combined with the national natural disaster census, the application of emerging technologies such as "big data, artificial intelligence" and other emerging technologies to further improve the system's "disaster threshold model" to make the system more accurate targeting and early warning.
