Domestic sales are a mess, but global sales in 2023 will reach 3.086 million units, Kia is so strong?

The reason for this situation is not only related to the fact that these car companies do not pay enough attention to the Chinese market, but also to the reason why the models they put into production in China are seriously "unadaptable".

For example, Kia, a car brand we know well, can you imagine that they only sold (wholesale) 148004 new cars in the first 11 months of this year?

You know, Kia currently has 10 models on sale in China, but even so, on average, the combined sales of all Kia models are less than 20,000 units per month. From this, you can imagine how badly Kia sold in China.

However, Kia Motors, which sells in a mess in the domestic market, seems to be on the hook in the global auto market. No, according to Kia's recently released sales data, Kia's global market sales in 2023 will be 3085771 (hereinafter referred to as 3.086 million units), and it will also increase by 6.3% year-on-year, setting a new annual global sales high.

Specifically, Kia's sales in South Korea in 2023 will reach 563,660 units, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%, and special vehicles are excluded. Outside of South Korea, Kia sold 2516383 units, up 6.7% year-on-year. If the sales data of the hundreds of thousands in the Chinese market are removed, Kia's sales in the rest of the region can still have at least 2.35 million units, so it has to be said that Kia is really popular in the global market.

Judging from the official data, in 2023, Kia Liontop will sell a total of 523502 new cars in the global market, and it has also become Kia's proper "sales champion" model.

As a comparison, the domestically produced Lion Platinum has sold a total of 11,758 new cars in the past year, and it only accounts for a small number in the global sales data of the Kia Lion Platinum model, which shows that the Lion Platinum is very popular abroad.

In addition, Kia Setus and Sorento ranked second and third in Kia's global model sales rankings with 344013 and 242892 units respectively. Eyes continue to return to the domestic market, Setus has sold a total of 35,219 units in the domestic market in the past year, and also ranks second in the sales list of Kia's domestic models. As for Sorento, since it has not been put into production in China, there is no sales data for it.

In addition, in addition to the above top three models in the global market, Kia's new K5, Carnival, EV9 and other models also helped Kia achieve its annual sales figure of 3.086 million units. In addition, the semiconductor supply disruption has eased in 2023, which has increased Kia's production and supply chain, so it has finally contributed to Kia's sales report of more than 3.08 million new vehicles.

Finally, Kia's global sales target for 2024 is 3.2 million units, of which 530,000 units are expected to be sold in the Korean market, 2.663 million units are expected to be sold in overseas markets outside of Korea, and 7,000 special-purpose vehicles are also planned to be sold. It is interesting to see from this sales target that Kia has a very large share of sales in the rest of the world, but it is not in China.

In contrast, BYD, the best-selling brand of our domestic cars, will sell more than 3.02 million units in the domestic market in 2023, while the overseas market will only have sales data of about 110,000 units. So in comparison, this proves that our domestic cars still need to work exports. After all, if the global market sells well, it is really good, do you all say that is the truth?

Even though Hyundai-Kia's sales in China are sluggish, it will still rank third in the global auto market in 2023

All in all, through Kia's sales results in the global auto market in 2023, we can see that the domestic market is a mess, and the Yueda Kia is not the same as the entire Kia that is also selling poorly in other parts of the world. On the contrary, sales in the Chinese market account for only a small proportion of global sales. This also tells us that if Chinese automobiles want to go to the top of the world, they must vigorously develop exports and better go out. Only in this way will our automobile industry get better and better, and Chinese cars will be recognized by people in more countries.

Fortunately, among the mainland's independent car brands, a number of car companies with good export sales have emerged, such as Chery, SAIC, BYD, Changan, Great Wall, Geely, MG, etc. Therefore, in the future, we also believe that it will not be long before domestic car brands will surpass car companies such as Hyundai, Kia, Volkswagen, and Toyota, which have huge shipments in the global market.
