After nearly 21 hours of continuous fighting, at 4:40 a.m. on April 9, with the last pipeline weld welded, the pipeline cutting and modification of Meicun Water Purification Plant and the installation of equipment and facilities were successfully completed, which took a key step for the follow-up project construction and safe and high-quality water supply. At 7:40 a.m. on the same day, the pipeline of Meicun Water Plant was put into operation, and the water pressure in some areas of Kuiwen District, Economic Zone, High-tech Zone, and Weicheng District, which had previously been under-pressured, was restored one after another, and normal water supply was started, more than two hours earlier than the scheduled time.
The water quality improvement project of Meicun Water Purification Plant was included in the top ten livelihood projects of Weifang Municipal Government in 2024. The project adopts ozone bio-activated carbon advanced treatment technology to upgrade the original water treatment process, which will greatly improve the water supply quality and lay a solid foundation for the transformation of water supply quality from qualified water to high-quality water.
