On April 11, according to the official announcement of the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the institution has made significant progress in the field of manufacturing technology for large-scale vehicle applications of sulfide all-solid-state batteries, successfully solved the key problems in the production process, and achieved an important breakthrough in the field of stacking technology of sulfide pouch batteries.

As the key technology of the next generation of power supply, all-solid-state batteries have the advantages of high safety, excellent stability and improved energy density, which effectively solve the problems of short life, flammability and explosion of traditional organic electrolyte batteries.

In particular, sulfide-based all-solid-state lithium batteries exhibit excellent high energy density and high power performance, making them the preferred technology for electric vehicle power supplies, which has attracted widespread attention in the global automotive manufacturing industry, and many companies have invested in R&D and planned mass production.

The institute's research team on advanced energy storage materials and technologies reported that they have successfully developed a multi-layer superimposed pouch battery with excellent capacity stability after 300 charge-discharge cycles.

At present, the institute is accelerating the R&D progress and verification of this technology, and plans to reach mass production of sulfide all-solid-state batteries in 2026.

In the professional field, the Qingdao Institute of Energy Conversion, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has officially built a pilot production line for all-solid-state batteries. Through careful research and development, the research team of the institute has successfully produced pouch-type all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries with high voltage and long cycle life.

In the process of 1000 charge and discharge cycle tests of this battery, its performance is stable, and the battery capacity maintenance rate is more than 92%.

In order to further ensure the stability and reliability of the battery performance, the battery product is currently being tested in depth. In this process, the focus will be on whether the battery can achieve high-speed discharge performance at 4C rate, and according to the industry standard set by Toyota, the battery needs to withstand at least 1,500 cycles of testing and maintain more than 80% of the initial capacity to meet the stringent commercial application standards.
