On the eve of World Animal Day, more than 30 citizens and tourists gathered on a ridge in the Jianyang section of Longquan Mountain Urban Forest Park, where they experienced the "Bird of Prey" activity.
"Every year in the spring and autumn, birds of prey migrate seasonally, and now is the right time to see it." Jiang Zhiyou, a nature education institution, told reporters that Longquan Mountain is a transit and temporary habitat, and it is an excellent place to watch birds of prey in Chengdu in spring and autumn.
"Look! There's one flying over there! At the event site, the birds of prey will attract a burst of cheers as soon as they appear. For a while, everyone picked up the telescope and quickly "locked" it, and couldn't wait to see the heroic posture of the raptor.
Jiang Zhiyou told reporters that there are many types of birds of prey that can be seen in Longquan Mountain, including ospreys, snake carvings, short-toed eagles, black eagles, black kites, boot falcons, crested eagles and so on. "They are predatory birds, some of them live on snakes and frogs, some feed on small mammals, and some eat insects." During their migration, in order to save effort, they often rely on hot air flow and wind to fly. The geographical location of the Longquan Mountains is just convenient for them, "which is also the reason why longquan mountains can see birds of prey." ”
At the end of the day, citizens and tourists observed nearly 50 birds of prey such as common birds, crested bee eagles, black kites, short-toed eagles, kestrels, sparrowhawks, and pine sparrowhawks in Longquan Mountain.
