Since its inception in 2013, the China (Shanghai) International Technology Import and Export Fair (hereinafter referred to as the Shanghai Fair) has been regarded as the "wind vane" of technology trade. Tesla Motors made its debut in Chinese mainland, and the world's first four-arm endoscopic surgical robot developed by a Chinese company also went to the market from the Shanghai Fair.

The 10th Shanghai Fair will be held from June 12th to 14th at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center.

On June 7, Zhu Min, director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, said at a press conference that this year's Shanghai Fair will focus on the three major fields of energy and low-carbon, digital technology and biomedicine, and set up seven technology zones, including new energy equipment, green transportation, commercial cryptography, large models and service robots, embedded systems and digital intelligent manufacturing, medical science and technology, and biotechnology.

Among them, exhibitors in emerging fields such as commercial cryptography, low-altitude economy, and embedded systems have increased their display area, with more than 60 related exhibitors. More than 20 projects will be exhibited for the first time in the fields of carbon footprint, carbon analysis, generative artificial intelligence, and agricultural seed industry.

In the field of low-altitude economy, Shanghai Donggu Intelligent participated in the Shanghai Fair for the first time this year, and will display its self-developed long-endurance vertical take-off and landing composite wing UAV and the world's first light industrial-grade 360-degree all-round underwater robot.

According to reports, 28 companies and institutions will launch new products and new technologies, of which 11 will be launched globally or nationally, including the world's first unmanned delivery vehicle adapted to outdoor complex scenes, and the first domestic high-strength lightweight noise-reducing wheels.

This year is the sixth anniversary of the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta as a national strategy, and the Shanghai Fair will set up a special exhibition area for the achievements of the Yangtze River Delta regional collaborative science and technology innovation integration, focusing on the joint integration of science and technology innovation resources in the Yangtze River Delta, joint docking and transformation of enterprise technology needs, and a series of achievements formed by joint research and development. Including nano-level high-precision air flotation platform for wafer measurement, Doppler wind lidar, semiconductor advanced packaging special equipment, etc.

Each session of the fair will showcase many scientific and technological innovations, and there are more than 20 international leading technologies participating in this year's exhibition. Zhai Jinguo, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, said that in the past year, Shanghai has focused on the supply, demand, service, and carrier of scientific and technological achievements, promoted the transformation of more high-quality achievements, and cultivated and developed new quality productivity.

In 2023, the turnover of technology contracts in Shanghai will reach 485 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21.1%. Among them, the turnover of technical contracts of scientific research institutions such as universities and institutes reached 18.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 26.6%.

Zhai Jinguo said that Shanghai has launched the implementation of the pilot reform of the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and 39 universities and medical and health institutions have carried out seven reform tasks, including empowerment reform, separate management of achievements, compliance entrepreneurship, and due diligence and exemption. At the same time, we will improve the demand-oriented supply and demand docking system of enterprises, attract the in-depth participation of social capital, and continue to cultivate market-oriented and professional technology transfer institutions.

It is reported that this Shanghai Fair will display more than 2,000 international and domestic innovation achievements to be transformed, 500 enterprise innovation needs to be solved, and will also organize more than 100 technical managers and more than 10 service agencies to provide on-site services.

In recent years, Shanghai has continued to promote the high-quality development of technology trade, expand international scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation, and create a good international environment for the development of new quality productivity.

In 2023, Shanghai's technology import and export contract value will be 18.13 billion US dollars, ranking first among all provinces and cities in the country. Among them, the export contract value was 12.8 billion US dollars, and the import contract value was 5.33 billion US dollars.

Shanghai has active technology trade in the fields of professional and technical services, computer services, and electronic equipment manufacturing. Since the beginning of the "14th Five-Year Plan", the average annual growth rate of Shanghai's technology import and export contract value has been 5.8%, of which the average annual growth rate of technology export contract value is 7%; The value of technology import contracts grew at an average annual rate of 3.1 percent.

Zhu Min, director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, said at the meeting that this is due to Shanghai's active cultivation of trade entities, improving the level of trade facilitation, and cultivating new competitive advantages.

The "Shanghai Foreign-funded R&D Center Upgrading Plan" issued by Shanghai in March this year proposes to encourage foreign investors to invest in the establishment of R&D centers in Shanghai. As of the first quarter, the total number of foreign-funded R&D centers in Shanghai reached 567, and 243 technologically advanced service enterprises were cultivated. At the same time, Shanghai is also the first in China to realize the "exemption from filling in" for the declaration of technology export tax rebates, and innovate the "white list" recognition mechanism for the import of biomedical R&D items.
