The legend is over! According to the latest overseas news, the Nissan R35 GT-R will officially withdraw from the North American market in October this year and will be completely discontinued!
To pay one last tribute to the car before it was discontinued, Nissan created two special editions for the 2024 GT-R to commemorate the occasion, the T-spec Takumi Edition and the Skyline Edition.
The T-spec Takumi Edition pays homage to Nissan's roots in Japan, with the word "Takumi" meaning master craftsman who has honed his skills over decades.
Nissan says it has four Takumi at its Yokohama plant who oversee the assembly of the twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 GT-R VR38DETT engine. As a tribute, the engine badge will feature red etched text and a gold VIN badge.
The T-space Takumi Edition comes in a striking dark purple with a dark green interior, as well as new carbon-ceramic brakes and gold wheels.
Another Nissan Skyline Edition, debuting in the U.S., is inspired by the Japanese skyline in blue with a light blue interior.
The paint finish is classic and nostalgic, as the "Bayside Blue" hue used to be a common colour throughout the model range, but was discontinued after the R34 generation GT-R.
The R35 GT-R T-spec Takumi Edition is priced at $151,090 (about 1.09 million yuan), while the Skyline version is priced at $131,090 (about 950,000 yuan), with a limited edition of less than 200 units per model, and is expected to be launched in the United States this summer.
The next-generation R36 model will be the first electric GT-R, so those who are interested in the last generation of the gasoline GT-R can focus on it.
