Recently, three fifth-grade students from a primary school in Yanshan County were guests at a relative's house in the Sanxing Village Committee of Baga Township, and accidentally found a few very special stones, with some obvious plant lines on the stones, as well as traces of weathering. With the help of their parents, they took some photos of the stones and took them to the Yanshan County Natural Resources Bureau to find professionals to identify them.
It is understood that the three schoolchildren were in the fence of a relative's house and accidentally found the stone. The professionals of the Yanshan County Bureau of Natural Resources attach great importance to this "windfall". Through careful inspection, it is confirmed that the "small leaves" in the photo are indeed solid plant fossils, which are organic matter in the process of diagenesis, after decomposition and distillation, the H, O, and N elements in it volatilize and escape, and the carbon elements remain to be preserved as carbonaceous thin film solid fossils with carbonaceous mainly stable.
The staff also patiently and meticulously explained to the children the classification of fossils, the formation environment, the formation time, the conditions and the current mainland on the implementation of the regulations on the protection of paleontological fossils and other related knowledge. At the same time, it also praises the children's curiosity and research spirit.
Warm reminder: If you find naturally exposed fossils in Yanshan, do not dig and develop them at will, so as to avoid the danger of rock collapse. Please contact the Yanshan County Natural Resources Bureau in time so that the professional functional departments can better protect it.
