Narrative photography is an art form of photography that aims to tell a story through still images. It doesn't just capture moments, but conveys a deeper message, emotion, and storyline through carefully constructed images, sequences, or individual photographs, allowing the viewer to read the clues behind the story, and feel the passage of time, the emotional changes of the characters, or the development of events.
1: Narrative things: a story, a narrative
2: The art or practice of narration
3: Artistic representation of an event or story
French Lascaux cave paintings
Long before humans developed language, they began to tell stories with pictures. "As early as 25,000-30,000 years ago, humans painted on cave walls." In fact, the earliest language was drawing. So it's no surprise that we continue to use images to convey complex narratives and ideas, and here are some of the methods we use to do so.
Narrative photographic approach
Photographic stories or photo essays
A set of photographs, often accompanied by supplementary text, conveying a unified story, is published in the form of a book or magazine or newspaper feature. These "stories" come in a variety of forms and cover a wide range of topics, from war to travel, fashion and interior design.
War: The New York Times Salgado in Kuwait
Travel: World Traveler "牙买加"
Interior Design: Interior Design World "Eliot's House"
Fashion: Elle Magazine, Kate and the Gypsy
series
A group of photographs that are interconnected by a theme or basic idea and are intended to convey a set of meanings. A series is similar to a photographic story or essay, although a photographic story or essay is usually meant to be intended for publication. Whereas, a series means a series of art used for exhibition in a gallery or museum.

narration
Photographic narratives are often fictional and may contain text and/or other elements to fill in the gaps, which often appear in a series of images.
In Amy Lovera's narrative work, The Girl & the Bird Detective Company, she uses text, photographs, drawings, and maps to give the story a sense of the youth literature that inspired it.
I met him online.
It was a bit awkward at first.
But now we're getting along very well.
In the morning, we discuss politics in the breakfast room and at the dinner table.
Because of his seasonal migrations, he knows a lot about the world.
We noticed that a Walmart was being built near us. We were upset.
Together, we wrote two hundred and thirty-seven letters to the CEO.
We have not received a response.
We decided to investigate.
Worst! They built it seemingly overnight!
Good luck next time......
