Liverpool's new boss Ane Slott has sent his first message to the Premier League after Jurgen Klopp complained

Arne Slot had no problem with the 12:30 kick-off time for his first Premier League game in charge of Liverpool and he also joked that Jurgen Klopp could have been involved in the decision.

New Reds boss Slote will take his squad to Portman Road to take on newly promoted Ipswich Town on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, with TNT Sport set for Saturday's lunchtime fixture.

Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was often critical of the game at the time, and during Klopp's tenure, Liverpool kicked off earlier than any other team.

"They told me the game time was 12:30...... As far as I can tell, Jurgen complains a lot about this, so they probably thought, since Jurgen is not there, let's set the game time at 12:30! Slote told Liverpool's official website.

"No, it's different from the usual 12:30 because it's not after the European game. Looking forward to it. They're a promotion team, so that's special for them as well.

'I think every team probably prefers to play at home, but we're going to face Ipswich and we're looking forward to that.'

After facing Ipswich, Slot's first game at Anfield travels to Merseyside and the Dutchman is looking to kick off a new era for the Reds. 'Every new club you go to, it's your first home game, and that's special,' he said.

'I remember the game at Feyenoord was special and I expect it to be special at Liverpool as well. But like I said, the first thing I'm going to watch is our first training session, then all the training sessions after that and the games that we're going to play.

'We have to take this game very seriously and be the best team in the first game and the second game of Ipswich Town, which is at home to Brentford.

'I think everybody will tell you that you have to play football game after game, and the first and most important game was Ipswich Island.

'But if I say that and the players listen to it, they will misunderstand me because friendlies are really important for us to be in the best position against Ipswich Island.
