However, in the official history, Zhao Yun is just a miscellaneous general, rarely leading troops to fight alone, and there is no talk of the five tiger generals portrayed in "Romance of the Three Kingdoms".
And according to the official history, Liu Bei was named queen in Hanzhong, the second brother Guan Yu was named the former general, the third brother Zhang Fei was named the right general, and Ma Chao and Huang Zhong, who took refuge in the latter, were also named the left general and the rear general respectively, while Zhao Yun only fell to a Yijun general.

When Liu Bei became the king, Zhang Fei was named the right general, and the official position in the military general was second only to the second brother Guan Yu, and he mastered the most elite troops of Shu Han.
The second is the talented Wenchen. Among the representatives are Zhuge Liang, Pang Tong, Fa Zheng and others. When Liu Bei knew Zhuge Liang's talent, he invited Zhuge Liang, who was only in his twenties, to come out of the mountain and worship him as a military advisor, leaving a good story through the ages, and also achieving Zhuge Liang's great name.

Ma Chao is the representative of the Xiliang forces, after being defeated by Cao Cao, he attached himself to Zhang Lu in Hanzhong, and later surrendered to Liu Bei, Ma Chao won Liu Bei's trust with his brave force and the Xiliang Iron Cavalry under his command, and his position among the generals was second only to Guan Yu and Zhang Fei. The reason why Liu Bei did not reuse Zhao Yun

In terms of martial arts, he can monopolize Wen Chou, Changbanpo fought with silver spears and blood, seven in and seven out, successively beheaded dozens of enemy generals, killed Cao Jun in fear, and rescued the queen Liu Chan with his own strength, and his combat power did not lose to Guan and Zhang.
But such a military general with extremely high combat power was too close to Zhuge Kongming, the first person in Wenchen at that time. Zhuge Liang saw from the time he came out of the mountain that Guan and Zhang were not convinced, Guan Yu was too arrogant, and Zhang Fei only listened to Liu Bei's words, and he may not be completely convinced of his own words.
And Zhao Yun is different, he is loyal, kind, capable and obedient. Therefore, Zhuge Liang went to Jiangdong before the Battle of Chibi to bring not Guan Zhang, but Zhao Yun.
Then Zhao Yun participated in the Battle of Aiding Xichuan under the command of Zhuge and successively captured Baidi City, Jiangzhou and other places. Later, at the age of 70, he took the initiative to ask Ying to follow Zhuge Liang's Northern Expedition, which shows the friendship between the two.
One is the head of the Wenchen under his command, and the other is Zhao Yun, a military general whose combat power is not inferior to Guan Zhang, these two people are too close, if something happens, the country that he has worked hard to build for half his life will disappear in an instant, so Liu Bei is extremely jealous of Zhao Yun.
But Liu Bei was jealous of Zhao Yun and admired Zhao Yun at the same time. He knew that Zhao Yun was still relatively loyal, as long as he stayed by his side and didn't let his Zhuge Liang get too close, nothing would happen. Just like the generals Dian Wei and Xu Chu under Cao Cao, Zhou Tai under Sun Quan, etc., this is trust and guardianship.
Last but not least. Because Shu Han at that time did not lack generals to lead the troops to fight, on the contrary, Liu Bei lacked a person with a good personality and strong ability to assist and escort him.
Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Wei Yan, Ma Chao and others can lead troops to fight, but they are not suitable to follow him because of their personality, only Zhao Yun is suitable, loyal, has a good personality, and has strong ability, so Liu Bei left Zhao Yun by his side. Zhao Yun's reasons

Once, when Liu Bei attacked Yizhou, he planned to reward the vigorous army and divide Liu Zhang's real estate and land to the generals, so as to boost the morale of the army, and everyone agreed, but Zhao Yun raised objections.
Taking Huo Quai's "The Huns have not been destroyed, how can they become a family" as an example to exhort Liu Bei that the world is undecided, and that the main thing is to appease the people, and propose to divide these fields and properties to the people to comfort the people, Liu Bei could not refute it, so he had to obey.
In our opinion, this is a high-profile festival that focuses on the overall situation. But from the perspective of political officialdom, Zhao Yun's move not only contradicted his top boss, but also offended his colleagues.
The second point is Zhao Yunzhong's Han, not Liu. After Sun Wu attacked Jingzhou and Guan Yu was defeated, Liu Bei wanted to use the country's strength to destroy Wu and avenge his second brother Guan Yu, Zhao Yun once wrote to Liu Bei, saying that the national thief was Cao Wei, not Eastern Wu, and he could not ignore the great cause because of a little personal grudge. However, it was rejected by Liu Bei, which led to the fiasco of Yiling and the sharp reduction of Shu's national strength.
This series of factors combined caused Zhao Yun to be not reused in his life, so he had to be a guard, and he was really a tragic figure in the Three Kingdoms.
