2024 款奥迪 RS 6 Front 性能评测

I hope you forgot everything you know about the Audi RS 6. Somehow, in the midst of a wave of fast station wagon releases, Audi's breakthrough station wagon product update seems to have been thrown aside. I can never understand why it was forgotten, but it may have something to do with hiding all the biggest improvements under the car without changing the design. In fact, the only way to really get to know the special "performance" feature on the Audi RS 6 Avant Performance is to drive it, so that's what I did.

In this review, I'll explain the price of the Audi RS 6 Avant Performance, what makes the "Performance" model special compared to the standard car (which is no longer available), and how it drives on the road before sharing our evaluation. Let's take a look!

奥迪 RS 6 Avant Performance 多少钱?

The Audi RS 6 Avant Performance is available in Australia from AUD241,500 and does not include on-road fees. However, our test car is equipped with the following options, so it does not include on-road fees, and the price rises to $247,200.

The vehicles we tested were equipped with options including:

  • 22-inch alloy wheels, 5-Y spoke design, matte grey - NCO
  • RS Design Kit, Blue – AUD 2,900
  • Matte Grey Exterior Styling Kit – AUD 700
  • Blue Line Carbon Twill Inlay – $2,100

In Australia, there are few competitors for spacious fast touring cars with up to 463kW. In fact, if there's one new car you can buy right now, it's the BMW M3 Touring (which costs $180,100 AUD without road fees). If you're buying an RS 6, the hardest decision is between the RS 6 Performance and its sibling, the RS 7 Performance, which costs $248,500, which has a gorgeous form factor.

What makes the "Performance" model so special?

If this is your first time reading about the Audi RS 6 Avant Performance, forget everything you know about the Audi RS 6. While the changes don't sound particularly striking on paper, it's quite different from the gorgeous station wagon that everyone has hailed as the "ultimate everyday drive."

The boost pressure has been increased from 2.4 bar to 2.6 bar, which means that the 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo TFSI engine now produces 463 kW (+42 kW) and 850 Nm (+50 Nm). The result is a 0.2-hour acceleration time from 0-100 km/h, which is now reduced to just 3.4 seconds. The most impressive is the 60-110 km/h acceleration time of just 2.2 seconds, which was tested by our friends who are driving enthusiasts. It's also worth noting that the 0-200 km/h acceleration time is just 11.68 seconds, which is about the same speed as the Lamborghini Urus Performante.

Obviously, it's the unseen things that make this car so special, and that theme carries over to the 8-speed automatic transmission, which is tuned for faster gear changes, especially when selecting "S" or Dynamic mode. On the underside of the car, the self-locking center differential is "lighter and more compact", which you can really notice when tackling sharper, slower corners.

Forged 22-inch bright silver and black metal alloy wheels feature a ventilated 5-Y spoke design for additional brake cooling. However, they also save quite a bit of weight. They're 6kg lighter than the wheels on the standard RS 5, but more importantly, they reduce the unsprung weight by 20kg, which is directly related to a more responsive throttle response. Paired with high-performance Continental Sport Contact 7 tyres, they reduce the braking distance of 100-0 km/h by up to 2 meters.

奥迪 RS 6 Avant Performance 的内饰怎么样?

The "performance" changes are not limited to the vehicle's dynamics, as the interior of the RS 6 Performance has also been upgraded. Most notably, there's less isolation between the engine, interior, and rear of the vehicle, so you can hear the roar and turbo of all V8 engines.

You'll find the standard sports seats with heating and ventilation in Valcona leather with contrasting honeycomb stitching and full-surface ocean blue seat belts. The same optional RS design kit is available in grey and red, but the brand has also introduced blue, which is a logical choice for any of these versions. This contrast stitching extends to the black steering wheel and Mercato blue contrast stitching, floor mats, center console sides, and my personal favorite choice of choice lever cuffs.

If you prefer soft-touch and racing-like suede, Audi's Dynamica material (similar to Alcantara) has been added to the selector bar knob, but there is the option to add it to multiple sections of the cab if you prefer.

From a technical point of view, you'll see three screens. The first screen is located in front of the driver and houses a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster; The second screen is a 10.1-inch color display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; A third screen is mounted underneath and is a high-resolution 8.6-inch color display for climate control. It doesn't have the largest screen in the world, but that's perfectly fine, since they are well thought out and the climate shortcuts that can be accessed through the screen below are very useful.

Finally, there are two programmable Audi RS buttons on the steering wheel, which are your shortcut to having fun. They will change the display in front of you, making the tachometer stand out more, but more importantly, they will change the driving characteristics of the vehicle, making it stronger, more compact, sharper, and at the same time louder in the exhaust sound.

What drives the performance of the Audi RS 6 Avant?

  • Engine: 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo TFSI engine
  • Power: 463 kW (620 hp)
  • Torque: 850 Nm (627 ft-lbs)
  • Acceleration (0-100 km/h): 3.4 seconds
  • 驱动类型:Quattro 全轮驱动
  • 变速箱:8速Tiptronic

I could talk about this engine all day, but with Cylinder On Demand (COD) technology, which shuts down four cylinders at light throttle loads, the fuel economy on the highway is amazing. How to drive a 2-ton station wagon on the highway with a twin-turbocharged V8 engine with more than 600 horsepower and an average fuel consumption of about 10 liters per 100 kilometers is a marvel of engineering. That being said, don't expect it to be better than the claimed 11.8 liters of town fuel consumption per 100km. It's a fuel guzzler when you're not using it.

奥迪 RS 6 Avant 性能驾驶如何?

Last year, when I reviewed the standard version of the Audi RS 6, I had the privilege of putting it alongside the BMW M3 Touring. It's not because I want to compare them – they're two very different cars for different audiences – but because it gives me the opportunity to figure out the differences between them.

On the road, the BMW feels faster, more attractive to drive, and more fun. However, the Audi is more comfortable and reasonable, which is something you want to have every day. The luxury car experience it brings is closer to that of a Bentley, while the Touring is more like a Porsche GT3. On paper, the Audi RS 6 Avant Performance should be the ultimate compromise because in the end all I wanted was a little more hilarious.

I am always amazed at how a brand can revolutionize the way cars are driven with a few seemingly basic changes. Combine added power, precision, and excellent cornering ability with a new self-locking center differential, and you've got a street bike like a beast. The standard RS 6 feels a bit slouchy, while this car stays awake with all your input. The steering is more accurate both in the center and outside the center, the tuning of the gearbox changes the way your right foot interacts with it, and I can't believe we're in a hybrid world, 2,090kg isn't too heavy, but it feels light and welcoming.

Best of all, it's more than just a fast station wagon. The standard RS 6 has always been, and always will be, a very fast vehicle, but this RS 6 Performance gives you more rewards as a driver. Drive it with all its might, and it will run wildly with joy, but with it tied to a rope and tuned to a more comfortable environment, it is also a good, comfortable grocery transporter.

What many people say about the performance of the Audi RS 6 Avant

While the standard RS 6 is already one of the best performance tourers we've seen, the new Audi RS 6 Avant Performance solves some of the initial problems we found in the standard model. The new car is more responsive, better able to respond to your every movement, and most importantly, more fun to drive.

Finally, it doesn't compromise on comfort either, with adaptive air suspension as standard, all-wheel steering with dynamic steering, a Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system, a panoramic glass sunroof, electric door closer, and several other comfort-focused features. Eventually, it recaptured my heart and earned the crown of the best station wagon money could buy.
