In addition to these sovereignty disputes that we all know, there is also a piece of land that was occupied by the invaders for 70 years and was not recovered until after the founding of the country.
Where is this land? Which countries have invaded this land? What efforts has the state made to reclaim this land?
Inherent territory of the town of Pianma
This land is located in Pianma Town, Yunnan Province, this land area is less than 200 square kilometers, although this land area is not large, but because of its unique geographical location, many things have happened here, and the history is quite long.
The story of Pianma Town can be traced back to the pre-Qin period, where most of China's ancient capitals were located in the Central Plains, and Yunnan was remote and far away from China's ancient capitals.
It is human nature to explore the unknown in farther places, and during the Warring States Period, this part of Yunnan was developed. The first to come here was the Chu native Zhuang Ji, who led his troops to this place and expanded a thousand kilometers in the Dianchi area, proclaiming himself the king of Dian.
At the same time, the Qin state in western China was in full swing to the east, intending to unify the six kingdoms and unify the world, and they were also very curious about the southwest region and had a heart of exploration.
After the Qin State successfully won the rule of Shu, it began to explore the Yunnan region. Due to the complex topography of Yunnan and the mountains and mountains, there is also a Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau in Yunnan and the interior of the Central Plains as a barrier. It was not easy for the army to get over, so the king of Qin ordered Li Bing to build a road on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau.
At that time, the tools used by people were still the most primitive stone axes, and all they could rely on was brute force, so the road was very difficult to build, and it was not completed until Qin Shi Huang unified the Six Kingdoms.
This road starts from Yibin, Sichuan, and leads to Qujing, Yunnan, and this road has broken the barrier between the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. Since then, economic and cultural exchanges have been carried out between the Central Plains and Yunnan, and Yunnan has been officially incorporated into the Chinese territory.
But the Great Qin Empire did not rule for long, and with the death of Qin Shi Huang, the Great Qin Empire came to an end in just two generations, and the troubled times began again. Although Liu Bang then established the Han Dynasty, the Xiongnu in the north also took advantage of the fall of the Great Qin Empire to invade the hinterland of the Central Plains, and the expansion of Yunnan was therefore shelved.
Heroes emerge in troubled times, and in a troubled era, there was a heroic emperor in the Han Dynasty, and he was Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty. After succeeding to the throne, this emperor not only conquered Korea and made Korea a vassal state of the Han Dynasty, but also opened the road to the Western Regions and repelled the Xiongnu, who had always been ambitious. Under the prosperity of the Han Dynasty, the Central Plains carried out the development of Yunnan.
By 130 BC, the rule of the Han Dynasty had been stabilized, and Emperor Wu of Han sent people to Yelang to subdue the surrounding areas at the same time. In the following years, he ruled southern Guizhou, southeastern Yunnan, and northwestern Guangxi, and in 109 BC the area where Pianma Town was located was brought under the rule of the Western Han Dynasty.
In the last years of the Western Jin Dynasty, the Sima family was mediocre, and the land of the Central Plains was once again divided and fell into chaos. The remote Yunnan region was also separated from the rule of the dynasty because of the chaos in the Central Plains, and a number of local governments were born, such as Dali, as we know.
This time it was until the Yuan Dynasty, when the Yuan Dynasty army defeated the Dali army, and the rule of Yunnan returned to the hands of the Chinese dynasty. At this time, the war was always fought between the countries of Chinese mainland, until the end of the Qing Dynasty, when the country's land was invaded by foreign tribes.
British invasion
The first to invade the continent was Britain, as the first country to complete the industrial revolution, industrial production developed rapidly, and Britain began its most glorious moment at this time. They fought and colonized everywhere, and the amount of land they colonized was evident from their title, and they were known as the Empire on which the sun never sets, meaning that the sun would never set over British territory.
The image of the Chinese dynasty has always been a great power, and the level of culture and technology far exceeds that of other neighboring countries, these impressions make the British dare not rashly move on China for a while, but this does not mean that they are not curious about China, they are very interested in the scene of the Chinese dynasty building houses with gold described in British books.
Britain was only a country that invaded China's borders at first. In 1824, British troops invaded Burma, and the Burmese army and civilians fought for 60 years. But the disparity between the two sides was so great that in 1885, most of Burma became a British colony.
The British had already occupied almost most of the countries on the Chinese border, and by the time of the Opium War, they had already had a simple understanding of the strength of the Qing government, and the British were confident enough to invade north from Burma.
At this time, the Qing government was busy dealing with the Japanese invasion and had no time to take care of the remote Yunnan region. However, the British still took into account the effectiveness of the Chinese Westernization Movement, and only secretly provided weapons to Japan, and coerced and induced the Qing government to relinquish control over most of the area where Pianma Town was located.
The simple Qing government thought that it would get help from the British by doing so, but how could it expect one robber to fight another. Not surprisingly, the despicable British not only did not help the Qing government at the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War, but also colluded with the Japanese.
When it was discovered through the First Sino-Japanese War that the Qing government was not as strong and inviolable as the previous dynasties, both Britain and Japan launched more fierce attacks on China.
Even more tragic is that in 1911, Britain and Japan fought over Chinese territory for ownership of the Pianma Town area, which was passed like a ball between the two countries.
In the two world wars that followed, the area of Katama was ruled by one country after another. In 1941, after much travel, the area of Pianma Town was brought under British rule in Burma. At that time, it was in the period of all-out war of resistance, and the Nationalist government was fighting with the Japanese, so it had no time to take care of it.
However, the British did not rejoice for long, and in 1943, the Japanese army defeated the British army in Burma and occupied the British colony in Burma, and even the area of Pianma Town was occupied by the Japanese.
However, this time the Nationalist government did not sit idly by, and in 1944, the Kuomintang general Xie Jinsheng led Chinese soldiers to take back control of Pianma Town.
However, after the end of World War II, after the wars between countries gradually subsided, the British suddenly launched a sneak attack on the Pianma Town area, killing a large number of Chinese soldiers. At that time, the Nationalist government was anxious to deal with the Communists and stabilize its rule over China, and did not hold the British accountable for their shameless acts.
However, Britain did not end well, after two world wars, Britain's family foundation has long been hollowed out, and the international situation is also showing that the Soviet Union and the United States are competing for hegemony.
After the Second World War, a number of colonial countries launched independence movements, and those that were once colonized became independent. In 1948, Burma became independent, and the area of Pian Ma Town was also brought under Burmese rule.
Peacefully reclaim the town of Katama
Although the empire on which the sun never sets eventually fell, Britain did not forget to disgust us.
Britain had previously assigned most of China's southern Tibet to an Indian colony, and after the liberation of India, it had been clinging to that area, and there were frequent contradictions between China and India.
Now that the area of Pianma Town has also been occupied by Burma, the evil intentions of the British are clearly exposed.
But the Burmese rulers were also bitter about being colonized by the British, and they were tired of the war, and they wanted to settle the question of the ownership of the land peacefully.
In 1950, China and Myanmar established diplomatic relations, and since then, the leaders of the two countries have conducted many friendly exchanges.
In 1954, Premier Zhou's Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence were highly recognized by many countries.
But the most serious problems at that time were internal to Myanmar. Although Myanmar was freed from British colonization, Myanmar itself was mired in disputes, everyone wanted to be the ruler, and there were many armed conflicts.
Moreover, the China-Myanmar border is mostly highlands and mountainous areas, and the terrain is complex, and it takes a lot of time to accurately survey the terrain.
Therefore, although the negotiations began in 1958, it was not until 1960 that the mainland recovered the territorial sovereignty of the Pianma Town area at the cost of losing the sovereignty of Jiangxinpo. More than 3,000 people living in this land have also been restored to citizenship of the People's Republic of China.
