"Water Margin" Liangshan conquered Daliao, after the victory of Danzhou, the people of Liangshan marched separately, Lu Junyi arrived in Yutian County, and the battle of Yutian officially began.
Although the story of Lu Junyi's battle against Yutian County described in "Water Margin" is a literary creation, the place name Yutian County does have its place, that is, Yutian County, Tangshan City, Hebei Province today.
According to historical and literary records, Yutian County did fall under the jurisdiction of Jizhou in history, which today roughly corresponds to the area around Jizhou District of Tianjin, but in ancient times its jurisdiction was much broader and included parts of present-day Hebei Province. This coincides with the plot in the Water Margin novel.
The name of Yutian County comes from the ancient legend "Yang Boyong Wuji Mountain Grows Jade", which reflects the rich historical and cultural heritage. From ancient times to the present, Yutian County has undergone many adjustments of administrative divisions.
1. Spring and Autumn Period: The land of Yutian was called the Wuzhongzi Kingdom, which was one of the small vassal states at that time.
2. Warring States Period: It became the territory of Yan State and belonged to Youbeiping County.
3. Qin Dynasty: Included in the right Beiping County Wuzhong County.
4. Two Han Dynasty period: It is divided into Wuzhong and Xu Wuer counties, which successively belong to Yan County and Youbeiping County.
5. Northern Zhou Dynasty: Xu Wu County was abolished and merged into Wuzhong County, which belonged to Yuyang County.
6. Sui Dynasty: Wuzhong County was renamed Yuyang County, which still belongs to Yuyang County.
7. Tang Dynasty: In the second year of Tang Wude (619), Wuzhong County was re-established, and the seat of governance is located in today's county seat. In the first year of Long Live Tongtian (696), because of the legend of Yang Boyong planting stone and producing jade, it was renamed Yutian County, which belonged to Jizhou, Hebei Province.
8. Northern Song Dynasty: Xuanhe four years (1122), changed to Jingzhou, later into gold, renamed Yutian County, belongs to Jizhou, Zhongdu Road.
9. Yuan Dynasty: Yutian County belongs to Jizhou, Dadu Road.
10. Ming and Qing dynasties: Ming belonged to Shuntian Prefecture Jizhou, early Qing Dynasty belonged to Yongping Prefecture, and later changed to Zhili Zunhua Prefecture. During the Qing Dynasty, the administrative subordination of Yutian County changed, and eventually it became directly under Hebei Province at the end of the Qing Dynasty.
11. Republic of China period: In 1913, Yutian County belonged to Bohai Province of Zhili Province, changed to Jinhai Road the following year, and directly belonged to Hebei Province in 1928. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the ownership of Yutian County changed with the changes of the anti-Japanese base area, and it once belonged to different joint counties in the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei border region.
12. Modern: After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Yutian County has been subordinate to Tangshan City, Hebei Province to the present.
