The 15th Annual Meeting of the New Champions (Summer Davos 2024) was held in Dalian from 25 to 27 June, with the theme "New Frontiers for Future Growth" and focused on new models to boost the economy.
During the Davos Forum, the Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone was led by the main leaders of the Management Committee, and a delegation from the Investment Promotion Office, the Electronic Information Bureau, the Medical and Health Bureau, and the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau and other departments went to Dalian to participate in the meeting, actively carry out economic and trade activities, and strive to promote the acceleration of the implementation of a new batch of industrial projects and expand investment.
During the forum, the delegation of the Economic Development Zone accompanied the leaders of Tianjin to meet with the executives of multinational companies such as Volkswagen Group, Honeywell, Novo Singapore Dollar, and Shabik, and communicated and exchanged views on the projects invested and operated by enterprises in Tianjin.
Since 2012, the Volkswagen Group has invested in Tianjin, with a total investment of more than 38 billion yuan, and the Tianjin Economic Development Zone has become an important vehicle and core parts production base of the Volkswagen Group in China. As one of the leading vehicle enterprises in the automobile industry in the Economic Development Zone, FAW-Volkswagen has become an important engine for the development of the automobile industry in the Economic Development Zone and Tianjin. With the in-depth development of the intelligent, low-carbon and green automotive industry, Volkswagen will also make full use of the advantageous resources of Tianjin and the Economic Development Zone to further expand the space for cooperation.
The delegation of Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone and Honeywell have in-depth docking and negotiation to promote Honeywell Intelligent Industrial Technology Group and Intelligent Building Technology Group to further improve their R&D and transformation capabilities, innovation capabilities and production capacity in Tianjin, build an industrial chain and innovation chain center that radiates Asia in the Economic and Technological Development Zone, expand the total amount of manufacturing industry, and continue to lay out new product lines such as gas equipment and sensors.
Novozymes (China) Biotechnology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Novo Singapore, is located in the Tianjin Economic Development Zone, a regional headquarters and a strategically important multi-purpose enzyme production plant in China. Novo's Tianjin plant also serves as its R&D, Asia Pacific supply chain, procurement and finance center. In the future, Novo Singapore will strengthen cooperation with the Economic Development Zone to promote the progress of biomanufacturing products in China, and help the Group gain more market growth opportunities in China.
Sino-Saudi Arabia (Tianjin) Petrochemical Co., Ltd., a 50:50 joint venture between China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation and SABIC, is one of the largest ethylene joint ventures in China. The Zhongsha polycarbonate (PC) project invested and constructed in Tianjin Nangang Industrial Zone adopts the world's leading non-phosgene fused polycarbonate technology, and both production lines have been officially put into operation.
During the Summer Davos Forum, the delegation of Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone participated in a series of activities such as investment promotion in Tianjin City Meeting Room, conducted targeted exchanges and communication with invited guests, and introduced the regional investment environment, industrial policy, "manufacturing area", new industrial frontier, green development of manufacturing industry and other aspects. The delegation also visited the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other scientific research institutes and enterprises, laying a good foundation for future investment and cooperation
