Shang Xiaoyun (1900-1976)
Shang Xiaoyun, a Peking Opera performance artist, was born in 1900 in Nangong, Hebei Province. Entered the Beijing Sanle Class (later renamed Zhengle) to learn art, stage name Sanxi, first learned martial arts, later corrected Dan, learned drama from Sun Yiyun, changed his name to Xiaoyun, and mainly acted in Tsing Yi opera. and white peony (Xun Huisheng), hibiscus grass (Zhao Tongshan) and called "Zhengle Three Heroes". In the selection of the "Best Actor of the First Peking Opera Dan" in the Republic of China, he was also known as the four famous Dan along with Mei Lanfang, Cheng Yanqiu, and Xun Huisheng.
Shang Xiaoyun sings, inherits Shi Xiaofu from afar, and is close to Chen Deshuang, full of tones, the words are round, good at using trills, dragging the long board eyes, in one go, known for its strength; Thanks to Wang Yaoqing, Wang designed a steep and high-pitched singing voice for him, eliminating the shortcomings of the clumsy words in the traditional singing method of Danjiao. He is strong and graceful. He has a deep foundation in martial arts, and he is even better at acting in sword and horse plays.
Shang Xiaoyun is not only devoted to inheritance but also to innovation in art, rehearsing a large number of new plays in his life, and also sorting out and processing some traditional plays to increase the beginning and the tail.
In art, it is known as the "Shang School".
He died on April 19, 1976.
