Be wary, "high sugar" is ruining your cardiovascular health!

author:Pharmacist Fang Jian

Diabetes is one of the most common diseases in life, and relevant data show that 1 in 8 adults in mainland China is diabetic. What is more noteworthy is that elevated blood sugar is not the end of diabetes, and the complications caused by long-term diabetes are more worrying, and cardiovascular disease is one of them.

Insulin resistance and hyperglycemia are the main factors that contribute to cardiovascular complications in people with diabetes. Studies have shown that diabetic patients have an increased risk of heart failure and/or impaired heart function, and long-term hyperglycemia can also lead to various heart function impairments, including arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death, seriously affecting the quality of life and even life safety!

It can be seen that it is necessary to detect the early symptoms of diabetes in time and do a good job in prevention and treatment. How can we prevent and treat diabetes more effectively? We can find the answer in the 2024 National Diabetes Prevention and Treatment Conference and the Three-Division Joint Management Conference of Diabetes hosted by the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the National Primary Diabetes Prevention and Management Office held on June 22.

At the meeting, Professor Jia Zhenhua of Hebei Institute of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine shared an academic report entitled "Research on the Treatment of Diabetes from the "Spleen" and FOCUS Research on the Guidance of Network Disease Theory", and introduced an important achievement of the National Key R&D Program "Research on the Intervention of the Cardiovascular Event Chain with the Guidance of Vascular Theory and Health Theory Guidance System" presided over by him - the traditional Chinese medicine Jinlida can reduce the risk of diabetes in people with impaired glucose tolerance and multiple metabolic disorders. Recently, this scientific research result was published in the international authoritative medical journal JAMA Internal Medicine (impact factor 39), and Chinese medicine has further attracted widespread attention.

Glucose tolerance is an intermediate state between normal blood sugar levels and diabetes, which is a kind of prediabetes, which is manifested by a decrease in the body's ability to convert sugar. Prediabetes can be diagnosed when the fasting blood glucose is between 6.1~7.0mmol/L, and/or the blood glucose is between 7.8~11.1mmol/L two hours after a meal. According to the Expert Consensus on Prediabetes Intervention in Chinese Adults (2023 Edition), the prevalence of prediabetes in mainland China is as high as 35.2%, and it is on the rise.

The study used a randomized, double-blind, placebo parallel-controlled, multicenter design method, and the results showed that the risk of diabetes in the Jinlida group was reduced by 41% compared with the placebo group. At the same time, compared with the placebo group, a number of metabolic abnormalities in the Jinlida group, such as waist circumference, body mass index, fasting blood glucose, 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides, and insulin resistance index were also significantly improved. This study shows that Jinlida can be used as an effective intervention program to prevent diabetes and reduce the risk of vascular events in people with impaired glucose tolerance and polymetabolic disorders, and the emergence of this achievement undoubtedly gives hope to more diabetic patients and patients with metabolic syndrome.

Previous studies have also confirmed that Jinlida has a significant prevention and treatment effect on type 2 diabetes, can stabilize blood sugar levels, reduce the risk of microvascular complications and macrovascular complications, and is pure Chinese medicine ingredients, safe for long-term use without side effects.

In addition to taking medication for symptoms, it is also important to take comprehensive health management in your life. For example, the control of weight, blood pressure, and blood lipids should be taken into account in daily life, and these indicators should be measured regularly and physical examinations should be carried out; Change the unhealthy dietary structure, eat more grains, soy products, vegetables, and appropriately reduce the intake of rice and noodles and beef and mutton; In addition, long-term adherence to appropriate exercise can improve the body's metabolism, keep blood sugar stable, and also have a positive effect on protecting the heart and blood vessels.

Regardless of the stage, the prevention, control and treatment of diabetes should be done as early as possible. Take action now to form a healthy lifestyle and don't let "high sugar" destroy your cardiovascular health!
