Recently, the construction project of polypropylene plant of Fujian Gulei 1.5 million tons/year ethylene and downstream deep processing complex project undertaken by South China Branch of China Chemical Engineering Third Construction Co., Ltd. officially started.
The South China Branch previously undertook the civil works of the project in the early stage of site leveling, earthwork transportation, slope protection and retaining walls, temporary roads, and observation decks. During the construction of the project, the branch has been praised by the owner for its high-quality service, standardized management and excellent quality of engineering entities. With a good corporate image and market reputation, the branch successfully undertook the preparation of catalysts, alkyl aluminum preparation, polymerization unit, propylene recovery, extrusion granulation unit, blending silo, propylene feed and hexane storage and refining in the project polypropylene plant boundary, refrigeration station, device pipe gallery, substation, cabinet room, chemical warehouse, deluge valve shed, initial rainwater/production sewage pool, RTO furnace, general plan transportation of the device boundary area, power supply and lighting in the device boundary area.
Fujian Gulei 1.5 million tons/year ethylene and downstream deep processing complex project is the largest Sino-foreign joint venture project in Fujian Province so far, which is jointly constructed by Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), Fujian Energy and Petrochemical Group and Zhangzhou Jiulongjiang Group. The project is an important achievement of the alignment between the Belt and Road Initiative and Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, and is of great significance for further consolidating and deepening the friendly and cooperative relations between China and Saudi Arabia.

Fujian Gulei 1.5 million tons/year ethylene and downstream deep processing consortium project (Zhongsha Gulei ethylene project) has a total investment of 42.07 billion yuan, a total land area of 297.1855 hectares, and a total of 14 sets of chemical plants including 1.5 million tons/year ethylene and downstream plants, with an estimated construction period of 54 months.
Construction Scale:
Ethylene and downstream - the ethylene production scale is 1.5 million tons/year, and the downstream of ethylene is planned to build 10/1 million tons/year ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol, 400,000 tons/year HDPE, 600,000 tons/year mLLDPE/HDPE and 50,000 tons/year hexene-1.
Propylene and downstream - 400,000 tons/year of polypropylene (impact/random) and 550,000 tons/year of polypropylene (homopolymer/random) are planned to be built in the downstream of propylene. There are also some propylene downstream planning and construction of 25/150,000 tons/year phenol acetone, 270,000 tons/year bisphenol A and 290,000 tons/year polycarbonate.
In addition, 910,000 tons/year of pyrolysis gasoline hydrogenation (including styrene extraction), 220,000 tons/year butadiene extraction, 56,000 tons/year butene-1 unit and 570,000 tons/year aromatic hydrocarbon extraction will also be built.
In terms of technology, the project uses low-pressure gas-phase fluidized bed technology to produce mLLDPE/HDPE, slurry process technology to produce bimodal HDPE, ethylene oligomerization process technology to produce hexene-1, gas-phase fluidized bed technology to produce homopolymer/random polypropylene, and gas-phase horizontal stirring bed technology to produce impact polypropylene.
