With the approval of the Ministry of Education, the United College of Leicester University of Chongqing Medical University was officially inaugurated on June 25.
Jointly established by Chongqing Medical University and the University of Leicester, the joint college is the only Sino-foreign cooperative education institution in the central and western regions of mainland China that focuses on medicine and offers clinical medicine majors.
The joint college is also one of the 185 Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run schools (undergraduate level) recognized by the Ministry of Education in mainland China.
According to Huang Ailong, president of Chongqing Medical University, as early as 2018, the "Undergraduate Education Program for Clinical Medicine" jointly organized by Chongqing Medical University and the University of Leicester was approved by the Ministry of Education and officially enrolled in 2020. The programme has been running well for four years, with the first batch of students completing a year of teaching in the UK.
It is reported that the joint college established this time offers 4 majors, including 3 undergraduate majors such as clinical medicine, psychiatry, and rehabilitation therapy, and a master's degree in oncology.
Undergraduate majors are included in the national enrollment plan for ordinary colleges and universities, and applicants are required to take the national unified entrance examination for ordinary colleges and universities and abide by the national unified enrollment policy. If you pass the course, you can obtain a bachelor's degree certificate and a bachelor's degree certificate from Chongqing Medical University and a bachelor's degree certificate from the University of Leicester.

At the critical juncture of the 2024 voluntary application, we have specially counted the Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run schools and Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run schools at the undergraduate level announced by the Information Platform for the Supervision of Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools of the Ministry of Education, so as to facilitate candidates to apply for the examination.
According to the data, 30 provinces in mainland China (including municipalities and autonomous regions) have undergraduate Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run schools or projects (cooperatively-run schools: 185; Cooperative education projects: 1007). Jiangsu Province has the largest number of cooperatively-run schools, with 21; Henan Province has the largest number of cooperative education projects, with 117.
Usually, students who complete the Sino-foreign joint undergraduate program and successfully graduate will receive three certificates: the Chinese university graduation certificate, the Chinese university degree certificate and the foreign university degree certificate. For example, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, jointly established by Xi'an Jiaotong University and the University of Liverpool in Suzhou, has specified in the "2024 Chinese Mainland Undergraduate Admissions Regulations" that students who meet the school's graduation and degree awarding requirements will receive: 1) a bachelor's degree certificate from Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University; 2) Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University graduation certificate; 3) Bachelor's degree certificate from the University of Liverpool, UK.
Duke Kunshan University, a joint venture between Wuhan University and Duke University, has clarified in its 2024 Undergraduate Admissions Guidelines that full-time undergraduate students who have earned the required credits and met the graduation requirements will receive: 1) a bachelor's degree certificate from Duke Kunshan University (supervised by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council); 2) Bachelor's degree from Duke Kunshan University (supervised by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China); 3) Bachelor's degree certificate from Duke University (issued by Duke University and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Universities).
Sino-foreign joint universities or undergraduate programs are more international in terms of teaching mode, pay more attention to the improvement of students' comprehensive quality, and are more attractive to students who are willing to study abroad in the future. However, these schools and programs are expensive and need to be considered as appropriate.
In addition, if candidates choose to take the Sino-foreign joint route, there are 6 points to note:

#关注实际办学情况, especially the quality of education and teaching, such as student enrollment standards, teacher allocation (including the proportion and number of foreign teachers), specific learning courses, school locations, and teaching environment and conditions;
#关注学校的招生宣传与实际办学情况是否一致；
#关注招生标准. Where foreign educational institutions provide academic or degree education, their admission standards shall not be lower than those of foreign educational institutions in their home countries. Generally speaking, the admission standards are relatively low, the level of admitted students is uneven, and it is difficult to guarantee the quality of running schools. The high admission standard is the only way to improve the quality of running the school;
#关注招生计划. According to the regulations, the enrollment of Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run schools that award academic degrees from Chinese institutions of higher learning must be included in the national enrollment plan for higher education institutions. For the implementation of academic and degree education in foreign educational institutions, the national education department shall also approve the corresponding number of enrollment plans;
