Excess weight has become a "sweet" hidden danger? The risk of diabetes is soaring, and prevention is urgent!

author:Talking about health

When people reach middle age, it seems to be a normal thing to be overweight, and people don't pay much attention to it. However, if obesity is accompanied by symptoms such as high blood sugar, high blood lipids, and high blood pressure, it is necessary to be vigilant, because the risk of diabetes in such people will be several times higher than that of the general population.

Excess weight has become a "sweet" hidden danger? The risk of diabetes is soaring, and prevention is urgent!

In medicine, the state of obesity, hypertension, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia and other metabolic risk factors is called metabolic syndrome, which is the pathological basis of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Fortunately, as the early stage of the development of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome can reduce the risk of diabetes to a large extent as long as timely intervention is required.

In recent years, with the development of medicine, more and more scientists have devoted themselves to the intervention research of metabolic syndrome. Traditional Chinese medicine, which focuses on holistic regulation, has also achieved certain results in this regard.

On June 22, the 2024 National Diabetes Prevention and Treatment Conference and the Diabetes Three Divisions Co-management Conference, sponsored by the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the National Primary Diabetes Prevention and Management Office, was successfully held in Xiamen, Fujian Province. Well-known scholars and experts from many medical institutions across the country participated in the conference online and offline, and carried out academic exchanges on the topic of improving the level of primary prevention and treatment of diabetes.

At the meeting, Professor Jia Zhenhua from the Hebei Institute of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine shared an academic report entitled "Research on the Treatment of Diabetes from the "Spleen" and Interpretation of FOCUS Research on the Theoretical Guidance of Network Disease", which introduced the latest research results on the prevention and treatment of metabolic syndrome in the pre-development stage of diabetes.

Professor Jia Zhenhua said that this study adopted a randomized, double-blind, placebo parallel-controlled, multi-center design method, with the incidence of diabetes as the main evaluation index, and was carried out in 21 cities and 35 hospitals in China from June 2019 to February 2023, and a total of 889 subjects aged 18~70 years old, with impaired glucose tolerance combined with abdominal obesity, and accompanied by abnormal indicators of metabolic syndrome.

The participants were randomly assigned to the Jinlida group and the placebo group in a 1:1 ratio. They received a standardized lifestyle intervention (including dietary modification, physical activity, etc.) and received a dose of 1 bag/time, 3 times/day orally with zinlida or placebo per day.

The results of the study showed that the Zindra group had a 41% lower risk of diabetes compared to the placebo group, and they also experienced significant improvements in several metabolic abnormalities (e.g., waist circumference, body mass index, fasting/2-hour postprandial blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and insulin resistance index).

Notably, the brachial-ankle index and carotid medial-media thickness (both key indicators of arteriosclerosis) were also reduced in the Zinda group. This study shows that Jinlidanol can be used as an effective intervention program to prevent the occurrence of diabetes and reduce the risk of vascular events in people with impaired glucose tolerance and multiple metabolic disorders.

Where does the efficacy of Jinlida come from? Treating the spleen from the spleen is the root cause of TCM treatment of diabetes. Jinlida formula contains 17 natural Chinese medicine ingredients such as ginseng, yellow essence, atractylodes, sophora radix, and wheat winter, which play a role in nourishing qi and nourishing yin, strengthening the spleen and transporting Jin. Basic clinical studies have shown that Jinlida granules can protect pancreatic islet β cells, reduce insulin resistance, and regulate glucose and lipid metabolism. While steadily lowering blood sugar, it can also regulate blood lipids and improve symptoms such as thirst, fatigue and constipation. People with prediabetes (fasting blood sugar of 6.1-7.0 and postprandial blood sugar of 7.8-11.1) can also help reduce the risk of developing diabetes.

At present, Jinlida has been listed as a recommended drug in the 2017 and 2020 editions of the "Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes in China" and the "National Guidelines for the Prevention and Management of Primary Diabetes (2022)", which will bring health benefits to the majority of patients with diabetes, metabolic syndrome and prediabetes.
