Hou Yimin

Mr. Hou Yimin (August 30, 1930 - January 1, 2023) was born in Hexi Village, Gaoyang County, Hebei Province, and is of Mongolian descent. His pen name is Hou Yimin, a member of the Communist Party of China, a famous contemporary Chinese oil painter, muralist, sculptor, art educator, and former professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

Mr. Hou specializes in a variety of art forms, including oil painting, murals, Chinese painting, pottery, sculpture, and archaeological identification. He is one of the first generation of outstanding artists and art educators after the founding of the People's Republic of China, who has devoted himself to art education for many years, has a pioneering spirit, and is known as one of the pioneers of the New Mural Movement. Among his designs, one of the designs of the third and fourth sets of renminbi has been well received. He was awarded the "Lifetime Achievement Award of the China Art Award" for his outstanding artistic achievements and outstanding contributions to the cause of Chinese art.
