Today (1st) is the 27th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland, and the Hong Kong Federation of Fishermen's Associations held a launching ceremony for the sea fishing boat parade to celebrate the return of the motherland at the Tsim Sha Tsui Cultural Centre, mobilizing 27 fishing boats to celebrate the return to the motherland. Before the start of the ceremony, there were singing and ocarina performances, and a group of citizens held red flags and fluttered in the wind.

Fishing boats depart from the sea off the Tsim Sha Tsui Cultural Centre, sail along Stonecutters Island to the coast of Hong Kong Island, pass through Sai Wan, Central Sheung Wan and Wan Chai to North Point, and then return to the sea off Tsim Sha Tsui via Kai Tak and Hung Hom.

The Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Mr Tse Chin-wan, said that he worked with the Government to formulate a blueprint for sustainable development of agriculture and fisheries last year, and the measures for the sustainable development of local fisheries and the supply of quality local food have been implemented in phases. In recent years, with the support of the HKSAR Government, the marine fish farming industry has developed in a high value-added direction, and the annual output is expected to double in the future to provide more high-quality fish products.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Federation of Fishermen's Associations, Mr Cheung Siu-keung, said that the event allowed the public to get close to the fishing vessels and understand the inseparable relationship between the trade and the public. He continued to say that Hong Kong has embarked on a new journey from governance to prosperity, and is developing towards a better momentum. With the advantages of "one country, two systems", there will be more and more opportunities for the agricultural and fisheries sectors.

Liu Zhanghui, Director of the Office of the National Coordination Group for the Work of Hong Kong and Macao Migrant Fishermen and Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Guangdong Province, said that the cooperation between the Hong Kong Federation of Fishermen's Associations and the Hong Kong and Macao Migrant Fishermen's Association of Guangdong Province has been very effective in safeguarding the legitimate rights of migrant fishermen. In the future, the Hong Kong and Macao Migrant Fishermen's Association of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Guangdong Province will continue to serve the production and development of Hong Kong migrant fishermen.
