The wonderful photo uses the work taken by Hesja (the god of aerial photography), and the main model is the newly upgraded Su-22.

For the Sukhoi Design Bureau Su-22 M4K, Su-22 UM3K models, the most vocal should be the Polish Air Force. They have experience in use and maintenance. Of course, this is too arbitrary, after all, there are still some countries in service and use in Asian neighbors. There is another important link in talking about Poland, they use enough of them, which is more convincing than serving in small batches. The Su-22 is still used not because it is too good, it can only be said that it is too poor and has no money to replace it.

历史

The Sukhoi Su-22 is a fighter-bomber, but according to the pilots, it is actually a bomber. Its mission is to support ground forces, carry out target bombing and destroy strategic ground targets. The combat capabilities of the Su-22 are insignificant and are largely limited to defense. The Su-22 M4K aircraft is derived from the structure of the Su-17 and has been improved in design and electronics. The Su-22 M4K is capable of carrying up to 4,360 kg of combat equipment, but its combat range is large.

The purchase of the Sukhoi Su-22 aircraft was the most correct decision, since this aircraft is a continuation of the Sukhoi Su-7B and Su-20 aircraft development line. At that time, the USSR also supplied MiG-23 MB, MiG-27 and Su-24 aircraft, but these aircraft were not suitable for the Polish army.

Sukhoi Su-22 M aircraft have been in service with Poland since 1985. Poland has 90 Su-22 M4Ks and 20 Su-22 UM3Ks. Official records show that Poland purchased 110 Su-22 aircraft (90 single-seaters and 20 two-seaters). Unless there is an issue with the two-seater version, there are some inaccuracies in the single-seat version. A detailed analysis shows that a total of 100 Su-22 M4K aircraft were used in Poland. This obvious inaccuracy was due to the fact that during the initial years of service, the aircraft was repaired in the USSR. Because of serious airframe failures or problems with the installation of systems, Poland received a number of replacement aircraft.

They were stationed at the following airfields: Povez, Piva, Mirosławicz and Shividwin. Since 2010, all aircraft still in service have been concentrated at the Shividwin airport.

Compared to other fighters used in Poland, the Su-22 aircraft did not have a high failure rate and a similar number of accidents. The list of accidents is mentioned in earlier articles. In 2015, Su-22 aircraft should be decommissioned.

In 2012, WZL in Bydgoszcz presented a modified version of the Su-22 aircraft designed for naval aviation. The aircraft presented is the Su-22 M4K No. 9305. The aircraft is equipped with the equipment necessary for sea flight and countering surface targets. In addition, the aircraft received a new camouflage livery consisting of two gray colors. The Polish army was not interested in this proposal. At that time, Poland had a large storage of Su-22 aircraft, mainly in Sividwin.

In the years 2015-2018, Su-22 aircraft should be decommissioned. However, in February 2014, Defense Minister Thomas Semoniak decided to keep him in the 40th Tactical Air Squadron in Sividwin. It was decided to refurbish it so that it could remain in service for 3-10 years. The modernization covered 6 Su-22 UM3K and 12 Su-22 M4K. The plane, after preliminary verification, was sent to Bydgoszczcz. The aircraft was equipped with new radio stations, on-board instruments displayed in Anglo-American units, and components were repaired or replaced. At the same time, the aircraft received a new "pigeon-gray" camouflage livery. The first modernized Su-22 M4K number 8205 was delivered to the army in May 2015. The refurbishment of the remaining aircraft continued until the end of 2016.

List of modernized aircraft:

Su-22 UM3K 编号 308, 310, 508, 509, 706, 707。

Su-22 M4K 编号 8205(首架现代化)、3201、3304、3612、3706、3713、3715、3920、7410、8101、8309、8920。

On June 7, 2019, the RD-21 engine of a Su-22 aircraft failed. In flight, the engine stopped working. The pilot managed to restart and land safely. The incident led to the grounding of all Su-22 aircraft. This fact was reported by the commander of the 1st Tactical Air Wing, Colonel Maciej Trelki.

On Sukhoi series aircraft, engine stalling during flight is not an uncommon event. There are various procedures in place to deal with such situations. Everything depends on the altitude and speed of the aircraft. Since the pilot restarted the engine, it can be inferred that he followed all the procedures. After such an event, the mission was interrupted and returned to the airport. If possible, return to your own airport. Pilots should be rewarded for their professionalism. In mid-July 2019, the Su-22 aircraft returned to service.

Here are some photos of the structural details of the Sukhoi Su-22 M4K and Su-22 UM3K.
