New Performance Mode! Windows blockbuster upgrade

Dev Drive is a new form of storage volume that can be used to improve the performance of critical workloads, built on the Elastic File System (ReFS), including file system optimizations and features that enable developers to better manage their performance and security profiles.

It is designed to meet the needs of developers to host project source code, working folders, and package caches.

To set up a Dev Drive, you can create one or create a new VHD / VHDX in the free space of an existing drive, which you can do via System > Storage> Advanced Storage Settings> Settings under Disks and Volumes, or via the command line.

According to reports, Dev Drive has at least 50GB or more capacity, and Microsoft also recommends 8GB or more RAM.

Thanks to this, Microsoft has also introduced a Performance Mode, a new feature of Microsoft Defender designed for Dev Drive to minimize the impact on developer workloads.

In order to minimize the distraction of notification toasts, Microsoft will do this by detecting whether users are interacting with toasts and providing recommendations to turn off toast banners for such apps.

Of course, this will only prevent the banner from appearing, and you can still find the relevant reminder in the notification center.
