Goalkeeper Diogo Costa saved all three penalties in the dramatic Euro 2024 round of 16 match in Eintracht Frankfurt as Portugal secured a 3-0 victory over a brave Slovenian side in the deciding set.
After Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty in extra time, Slovenia drew 0-0 with Portugal.
Portugal got most of their chances, but they had goalkeeper Diogo Costa to thank him for keeping the ball in a one-on-one battle with Benjamin Sesco in the final stages of extra-time. He then made three more good saves in the deciding game that followed the most dramatic 0-0 draw.
Costa saved shots from Josep Ilicic, Jure Barkovic and Benjamin Welbic in the shoot-out and despite Portugal's lack of bright spots for most of the game, Costa single-handedly sent his team to the next round.
In the quarterfinals, Portugal will play against France.
