On July 2, Beijing time, Klay Thompson joined the Mavericks for 3 years and 50 million first and then in exchange, ending his 13-year Warriors career. The Warriors officially issued a statement announcing their plans to retire Klay's No. 11 jersey. The statement is as follows –
During his 13 years with the Warriors, Klay Thompson made incredibly legendary contributions to the team, including four NBA championships, six NBA Finals appearances, five NBA All-Star Game appearances, and multiple NBA records, including the most points scored in a single quarter (37 points) and the most three-pointers made in a single game (14) in NBA history.
The joy and happiness that Klay brings to Warriors fans, Bay Area natives, and Warriors Nation supporters around the world is immense and immeasurable. He was adept at making a difference on the biggest stage and under pressure, including a number of heroic performances in the sixth game, which helped define his career.
Klay's legacy lives on forever, and we look forward to the day when he retires his No. 11 jersey at Chase Center, where he will join the Warriors' slew of legends, including those who helped shape this recent dynasty, including himself.

In Klay's trade to join the Mavericks, Mavericks player Josh Green will be sent to the Hornets, and the Warriors will get two second-round picks and trade exceptions, one of which is a 2031 Mavericks second-round pick, and the other is a 2025 second-round pick that will be further down the line between the Nuggets and the 76ers, and the Mavericks get Klay. He will join forces with Doncic and Irving to challenge for a championship in the new season.
