Shuhong resilience丨The "grassroots" world between warp and weft

author:JERRYP

"Thousands of blows are still strong, and the wind is blowing, east and west, north and south."

Bamboo, since ancient times, has been the object of praise, it is straight up, high wind and bright knots; It's tough and tenacious. Because of this "toughness", people use it as a material to make bamboo products. Once upon a time, bamboo products still existed in the lives of the older generation, and they were common tools in ordinary people's homes. In 2008, bamboo weaving was included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage projects.

Hong Dongsheng, born in a family of craftsmen, the family ancestors have been weaving bamboo for generations, inherited for a hundred years, Hong Dongsheng is the sixth generation inheritor of the ancestral bamboo craft of the Hong family. At the age of 15, he followed his parents to learn bamboo weaving skills, whether it was the use of bamboo knives, bamboo hammers, scorns and other tools, or the basic skills such as insertion, piercing, cutting, locking, nailing, piercing, and sets, Hong Dongsheng learned from little by little, and practiced repeatedly every day, and his skills became more and more exquisite. With the rise of new industries, machines have replaced manual work, and the traditional bamboo weaving market has gradually shrunk. With his love and feelings for bamboo weaving, Hong Dongsheng gradually transformed into a production and sales of bamboo weaving handicrafts. In 2019, in order to better inherit and develop bamboo weaving skills, he established Jinyun Dongsheng Bamboo Art Studio.

Walking into Hong Dongsheng's bamboo art studio, the aroma of bamboo suddenly came to the face, and on the shelves in the house, there were bamboo products of different sizes and shapes, all of which were exquisitely made. He has refined the techniques and patterns of traditional bamboo weaving, creating a series of novel and unique lamps, vases, reduced dustpans and other household items that are both beautiful and practical, injecting new vitality into traditional techniques.

At the same time, we actively let the bamboo weaving skills into the campus, organize young students to learn to watch the bamboo weaving process, so that they can feel the cultural connotation and charm of bamboo weaving art, so as to improve their interest and hobby in bamboo weaving, so that the bamboo weaving skills will be passed on to future generations.

Bamboo weaving skills are not just simple production, but creation, recording, and perseverance.

These handicrafts were passed down by the ancestors and taken over by Hong Dongsheng, with the annual rings of the years and months, with the temperature of feeling, and then passed on to more people.

Hopefully we don't forget, and hopefully it will last forever.
