In the middle of summer, the capital is full of life. On July 1, the 2024 Beijing-Taiwan Youth Basketball Friendship Tournament was successfully opened at the Ditan Gymnasium in Beijing. The event was hosted by the Dongcheng District Government and jointly organized by the Dongcheng District Taiwan Affairs Office, the Dongcheng Sports Bureau, the Dongcheng District Committee of the Communist Youth League, and the Beijing Taiwan-funded Enterprise Association. As one of the series of activities of the 2024 Cross-Strait Youth Summit, this event aims to use basketball as a medium to build a platform for students from universities in Beijing and Taiwan. Eight teams from Tsinghua University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, North China Electric Power University, Beijing-Taiwan youth, Dongcheng youth, and Taiwan Kaohsiung Normal University, Yishou University, and Shih-Hsin University basketball teams participated in the event, and about 600 people from the Municipal Taiwan Affairs Office, Dongcheng District and other units, as well as Taiwanese youths in Beijing and primary and secondary school students in Dongcheng District participated in the event.
On the morning of July 1, the 2024 Beijing-Taiwan Youth Basketball Friendship Tournament kicked off with the passionate dance of the "Dianyue Dance Troupe". Wang Zhiyong, deputy head of Dongcheng District, extended a warm welcome to the college basketball players who came all the way from Taiwan, and encouraged the young people of the two places to use this friendly match as a platform to learn from each other, rely on each other, and walk with one heart, promote exchanges and exchanges, and welcome young people from Taiwan to come to the mainland of the motherland to pursue their dreams, build their dreams, and realize their dreams. The professional commentary of Wei Qi, the host of the sports program of Beijing TV, complemented the fierce competition on the spot, which made the young people of Beijing and Taiwan addicted. On July 4th, Taiwanese college players will also be invited to Beijing Enterprises Club to experience internships, and train and exchange with Beijing Enterprises professional athletes.
